I have lived in the Comox Valley for my entire life and I have heard whispers through the years. What I have witnessed is a staff that is dedicated to making their residents have a safe, fun and updated facility. They have done an amazing job of including the community and expanding their programs for more interest. I adore that they strive to include as many local resources as possible. I highly recommend.

My mother is in residential care here, and we feel so very fortunate. The staff are so caring and warm. The facility itself is very beautiful, and very thoughtfully designed. The food is amazing. There are recreational activities and special outings that keep Mom's spirits high. Daily care - even with staff shortages and COVID protocols - is tender and timely. Huge gratitude to CVSV!

My experience at CVSV has always been very good. I feel like I can participate as a partner in care. I have been welcomed to stay for meals and participate in events. Staff are accommodating and have a good rapport with the residents.

My Mom has been at Comox Valley Seniors Village for 9 years due to Alzheimer’s. During this time we’ve seen many changes and a lot of staff turnover but through it all, Mom’s care has not suffered. We appreciate all they do for Mom and the care snd compassion shown to her. .

Comox Valley Seniors Village, residential care, has been our family member's home for 4 1/2 years- since spring 2018. CVSV have been dealt the same hand as all long term care facilities in Canada- staffing issues compounded by a years long pandemic. What has amazed me is the dedication of so many of the staff members and their perseverance in the face of all the uncertainties in health care. Dealing with staff turnover is definitely a challenge for residents, families, and other staff- and it is never going to be seamless. But we have learned to trust the process and to participate in giving constructive feedback through the designated channels. We have always had our concerns answered and addressed. The facility is clean and infection protocols are followed. To their tremendous credit they avoided any major Covid outbreaks among residents and coped with illness-related staff absences as best they could. There was never a time when we felt our loved one's level of care was endangered. That was absolutely not the experience of many families at other facilities across the province and across the country, and we are exceedingly grateful to them for this.We have observed that CVSV demonstrates ongoing efforts to continually improve the lives of their residents and to attract dedicated staff. We understand that as new facilities open in the area, the old illusion that the grass is always greener" kicks in. That can make it challenging for facilities like this one to attract and retain staff in a tough market

Comox Senior Village went out of their way to ease my grandmother and our family into long term care. She was taken care of and their communication was excellent. They take the time to get to know everyone that lives there and their families, their support means so much to us. I highly recommend they went above and beyond for us.

There is a reason for the low rating. The top management including the social worker lack the professionalism which should given to our parents and family. Mom was vomiting at dinner and it took them 2 hours to call a ambulance and it was too late after that.

Our experience was in the residential care portion of the facility. My Dad was admitted from the hospital and was very unsteady on his feet. There was not any assessment done or support for him to get back on his feet and he ended up restrained in his chair, at least twelve hours a day!! He was not walked by ANY staff. If he got restless, they would give him medication instead of allowing him to get up and walk for a bit. Recently he moved to Glacier View Lodge and they have very strict policies on the use of restraints and my Dad did not meet the criteria. He is again up walking and is getting physio to help him stay mobile. Best of all her is not on any medication. There is a risk of falls, but he is far more content.I worked nursing homes in BC for 37 years and I have never seen such neglect as at Comox Valley Seniors The assisted living side may be lovely but if your family member needs care please take them somewhere else.

Wonderful Care Aides, that are so kind, patience and just go beyond their job duties. My mother enjoyed living there for 2.5 yrs. Every one from top management (Miranda) and maintenance men and kitchen/dining room were just wonderful. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone as they all were sO great to my mom and me

Low staff ratios mean the sweet care aids cannot do enough as stretched so thin, many leave so high turn over of staff and bare minimum done. Less care is provided than even our low expectations and communication between shifts poor as info is lost by next day. Many excellent staff but no leadership to ensure quality and company aims for profit not quality. Parents in facility and AL but it has been big disappointment. Lack of activities, volunteer base and general warmth which other facilities have in spades. Reputation is lowest of all facilities in valley even with some great staff as it is an uphill struggle.
