Don Don was good. We had a private room in the back for a friend's birthday, so the service was particularly attentive. I would also say, because we had so many people, we were able to order a large portion of the menu to share so that elevated the experience. I've come here before with a single friend before and we found it difficult to order all the stuff we wanted to try without spending a fortune. But with a 12 person split, it was $70 each including a few drinks which I think is very reasonable. Here are my must tries:- Jaja Beef, they give you your own hot plate and you can grill your own beef and veggies. The beef turns out very juicy and the veggies have a great grilled flavour- Don Don Karaage, a must have at any Japanese izakaya- Smokey Hay Sashimi, JUST GET THIS- Witch's Brew, a gin based cocktail that was super deliciousI didn't love their sushi and sashimi offerings besides the Smokey Hay too much, but there are definitely things I didn't try. Also some of the noodle/udon dishes were difficult to share with such a big group, but maybe on a date they would be better!

Great lively atmosphere (more on the loud side but still able to talk and hear each other fine) perfect for groups if you’re looking for a fun night. Large variety of menu options to choose from which was a huge plus. The service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend booking a reservation in advance if you’re planning to go in a large group. Group of 8 or more they put you in a more intimate room area which was cozy and great vibes. Overall, had a great experience and would recommend if you’re looking for a vibrant spot for an evening dinner with friends.

It was a busy Friday night... Reservations recommended as we only got the last 4 available seats walking up. There appeared to be some room at the bar. The drum beat often, and there was a myriad of foods and drinks being ordered. Try the beer pitchers - rather than a standard one, their pitchers are tall and are more like a beer tap. Ramen was good. Food was good to share.

Ordered: Otafuku Omelette, Skewers (chicken thigh, angus beef, pork green onion, zucchini, tomato), Sake Set A, Sapporo DraftOtafuku Omelette was okay.Skewers were very poorly cooked. Meats were cold and vegetables were very dry...Service was very slow, each order taking at least 30 minutes...

Super adorable place for an unique experience of Toronto. I didn't enjoy our food but mostly since I wasn't really sure what I was ordering. Pictures with the food items would be quite helpful. I had the with brew drink, or whatever it was called- something with a word witch in it - under cocktails, and it was tasty plus Instagram-pictures worthy.

A long-standing izakaya in the Little Tokyo neighbourhood. It’s less loud than Kinka or Guu so it’s a better vibe for drinks and conversation. The food is decent though pricier as Japanese apps are. Skip the curry fries; a side size of fries topped with curry powder for $8. The sake is marked up quite a bit as well. But overall a fun experience.

3 star for food. Food is mediocre and portion is small. If you are looking for Japanese food, then it might not an ideal spot. But if just for bar experience, it’s a place to go. Kicking the drum at the door is their way of saying welcome. It’s noisy all the time especially if there are a group ppl sit next to you playing games.

This place is located on the second floor and it’s decently sized. They do have a good selection of various foods (most of which are to be shared), but I found them to be a bit pricey given the quality and quantity. They make themselves to be known for sake bombs and I believe they have some sort of competition for guests. From what I’ve seen, their sake bomb experience is worse than other izakayas I’ve been too. But perhaps it’s because they do so many that they don’t have the energy to make it loud and proud every time.We were also seated right at the bar where they make the food, but my friend got splashed in the face a couple of times every time they sprayed water or washed their hands. The service was decent but it took forever for us to get our change after we paid. I wouldn’t mind coming back but definitely not top of my list.

We went there on a Saturday, a couple of weeks ago! The place such a mystical vibe, as you have meet an oriental style place with a mix of Canadian sprinkle and pop and hip hop music (my fav genre). The food was great and the drinks even better! The waiter was very nice and helpful, helped out choose the best dishes on the menu though his taste experience! I always trust what the waiter recommends lol For being a spot downtown Toronto, the prices were very reasonable!Definitely recommend!
