I absolutely do NOT recommend this place to any student due to the following reasons:1: The worst lighting ever. The rooms look like prison, there is only one small light. Everyone I knew bought an extra desk lamp and yet it was not enough!!!2: Too many different restrictions. From the RFs to windows that you cannot open in the common room!3: My floor was socially dead. If you are coming from the west coast, do not expect what we have there here! no parties, no gatherings, RFs fail to arrange social events, etc.4: I saw people with bizarre behaviors on this floor during my stay (maybe not Carleton's fault but it's worth mentioning)5: Limited space if you have a lot of clothes! (really a personal thing)

I stayed here in the 2021-2022 schoolyear in a four-bedroom suite. The suite itself is alright, one common area with four separate suites. The paint job of the suites was not great, and there were marks on the wall from previous residents.My advice for living here:1. Get extra lighting if you can, like floor lamps or desk lamps. The bedroom lighting isn't sufficient. LED lights work too, but the walls are made out of thin cardboard (paint comes off easily) so I haven't tried it.2.Get extra storage units. There's a small area in the bedroom for storage (not quite a closet) and storage under the bed but that's it. The drawers under the bed were hard to open and close too.3. Bring a lock for the desk, you can store valuables in there4. Be prepared for constant fire alarms. Study somewhere on-campus, like the library if you can. Fire alarms usually happen at inconvenient times5. Be prepared for making friends elsewhere. This residence was sort of socially dead compared to first-year residences.

Do not live here if you don't have to.My room was moldy from the day I moved in which has constantly made me sick, the elevators are frequently out of service, the kitchen doesn't come equipped with anything, including a stove, the toilet in our bathroom had trouble flushing for the first three months, there are 9am fire alarm tests entirely too often, and the internet in this building (at least on the 6th floor) is so bad that most of the time I can't even load gifs on Reddit or download pdfs for my readings, let alone watch Netflix or anything else.These may all seem like minor problems but not when you consider the money you pay to live in residence. The money I spent to live here (something like ten grand for the year) is literally the worst money I have ever spent in my entire life. My disappointment has nothing to do with being unprepared for residence, either. I lived in residence during undergrad in Toronto and my experience was about 100x more positive. The problem seems to be soley this awful building.
