Island Miniature Schnauzers

Was promised a dog by this breeder. Made a deposit and everything. Out of the blue with no explanation she returned my deposit and canceled my dog. Presumably was able to make more money off someone else. So heartbreaking and unprofessional.

Abby is going on six years old and she is a perfect girl. She’s the most affectionate, kind dog I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. She does everything with me. Her three favourite activities are; fishing, car rides and walks. She’s thoughtful, she’s gentle and she’s quiet. She will quietly alert if someone is at the house but looks guilty doing it. She stops alerting on command. She’s outgoing and tremendously nice to new dogs she meets. Everyone who meets Abby has a “love at first sight” response because of her calm demeanour. We couldn’t be more pleased with her and she could never be replaced. We thank God everyday for her and for finding island miniature schnauzers and we would never get another dog from anywhere else. Abby is my best friend and I couldn’t imagine our family sharing this life with any other dog. I hope more people get the opportunity to have such a special puppy and share the same beautiful experience we are so fortunate to have with her. Thank you Island miniature schnauzers

Backyard breeder/puppy mill purposefully producing dogs who do not meet breed standard and with awful temperaments. Schnauzers should not be parti coloured" or "soft/plush coated." These dogs are total nerve bags

I have absolutely no idea how anyone who knows dogs would ever leave a negative comment about Island Miniature Schnauzers. I grew up on a farm and have had dogs my entire life. Over the last 30 years I have had two beautiful mini's - one who was a very challenging rescue who lived to be almost 16, and the other from a reputable breeder who we loved to the moon and back until he passed away at almost 14 from cancer. I can say this honestly, after all the years and all the dogs, I have never encountered a miniature schnauzer puppy who has been as relaxed, happy, loved, healthy, smart, and trainable as Bear, the gorgeous chocolate mini we brought home from Island Miniatures, after he did his week of home life training - which I HIGHLY recommend. This was not the standard experience in purchasing a dog. On the day we picked up Bear, we spent two hours on the farm learning how to use our breath and energy to help him feel like a calm and beloved part of our pack. Bringing him home has been a joy and, again, I have never in my life encountered a dog quite like this.

Toko entered out lives almost 10 years ago. He has such a funny personality, and my life wouldn't have been the same without him- he's still alive, just my mom's dog. It is more like having a super smart monkey at home instead of a dog. He has a pretty bad reaction to other dogs but what Schnauzer doesn't? Also, that's just part of his super energetic personality. Toko has brought love, light, laughs, and life into our world.. Thank you IMS! You don't know how many years of happiness this little fella has brought to us.

I am shocked by some of the negative comments I have read, however, personally I have had an amazing experience with Island Miniature Schnauzers. We have a lovely three month old girl who is quiet (very little barking, but all dogs bark!) very loving, and so far very healthy. I have been working on the training program IMS provided every day and she is responding so well and is the best behaved little girl! She is absolutely delightful! We previously had a very negative experience with a mini schnauzer breeder from Vancouver and the puppy ended up having a liver shunt at six months old! We spent almost 10 thousand dollars above the purchase price and ended up in heartbreak. Beverley tests all her puppies to ensure they do not have liver shunts. She does not dock tails or do ears. The dogs come in various colors because she does not follow outdated awful practices of culling dogs that are not silver or black. I have spent several hours at her farm and the puppies are lovingly cared for in her home, handled frequently, and beautifully socialized. I would definitely recommend Beverley and her team if you are looking for a happy, loving family dog!

We bought a miniture Schnauzer 6 months ago, he was 5 months at the time. Love him lotsWe were asked what we were looking for in temperament and said we need the pup not to bark at people and to be socialized. We were assured her dogs did not bark or bite(??).Our pup has not been socialized and we have had him for 6 months trying to obtain the unnecessary barkingIt is quite evident that there was no training or very little put into this pup.We stayed overnite on the Island, the pup started to vomit and experience diahrea, we contacted the owner and she commented it was probably anxiety, just keep him calm and quietAfter getting back and taking him to a vet it was found the pup had Giardia, a parasite and needed two courses of antibiotics to cure it.The other dogs would have had it too, I'm sure she new There was no contact to inquire how the pup was doing.I have since learned that their breeding practices are questionable and not well thought of.I would not recommend buying a dog from this breeder

We purchased one of the retired breeding females 7 months ago. She has been the most amazing dog. She does not bark, is very attentive to cues and was very well-socialized. I have never loved a dog as much as I love her and would buy another dog from this breeder without any hesitation.

All the staff are well trained and it's obvious that they love the animals and the dogs love them back. We have no hesitation to send Max for a stay cation. He is well cared for and Beverley posts daily videos of him playing.

Our dear little fellow has turned into quite a challenge! Does not like men, is very reactive-he has behaviour problems that are being handled with a professional dog trainer. He loves all dogs-not people-just us.
