It’s a great place to shop and also a great to eat! Everything is freshly prepared and everything tastes delicious! Curry, Ramen, and many to choose! The price is right and the service is nice!

It’s a cute little place with very friendly staff. However, I didn’t find much of anything for me personally. There weren’t many vegan options. Otherwise, I love the atmosphere and setups.

Just discovered this place and I’m so glad. I live 5 hours away so I will be stopping by from now on!J-town overall is cozy and authentically Japanese. I’ve been to J-town in San Francisco and was greatly disappointed as most of the shops were either closed or not authentic. I’ve been searching for places that reminds me of my time when I grew up in Japan. So I’m really glad we have something like this here.Prior to this, I used to get my Japanese items all the way from Sanko Trading on Queen St West for speciality items or the T&T near me. But this place literally have everything you ever need! There’s delicious bento and extensive collection of cooking ingredients, snacks, grocery, housewares, etc. they have dango and wind chimes! Beautiful teapots too! They carry a lot of stuff that the other places I’ve been to that don’t have. Their prices are really good, cheapest I’ve seen. Shelves are neat, all the staff was very very pleasant. You also have the bakery and butcher in nearby stores. So it’s really a one stop shop for Japanese goods.

Heisei Mart is far from my house but I go here often because they have lots of products that are hard to find elsewhere. For example, dango (mochi rice balls on skewers) is difficult to get in Toronto but Heisei Mart sells several flavours of them, such as matcha with red bean, mitarashi (sweet soy sauce), and black sesame. The rice balls have a really nice chewy texture and all of the flavours are delicious but my favourite is mitarashi; I always buy a tray of it when I'm at the store. Heisei Mart sells lots of other authentic Japanese groceries as well, including kiri mochi, Kewpie mayonnaise, umeboshi, sushi rice, and daifuku. Additionally, they have a selection of prepared Japanese meals such as bento boxes, karaage, sushi, and omurice. They also sell traditional style Japanese dishes, cups and home decor. Lastly, the cashiers are friendly and quick. Overall this store is a hidden gem for authentic Japanese goods.

EDIT: Heisei Mart continues to be a lovely gem offering plenty of Japanese food, homeware, snacks and more. It looks like there's a food stall/restaurant that has opened up too. Clean and organized as usual.******Clean and organized Japanese market with mostly imported Japanese ingredients and snacks. A bit on the pricy side but you'll find a lot specialty items here. They have some prepared foods like onigiri, mochi, and Bento boxes too. Covid protocols are being followed strictly so you'll likely have to line up.

Lots of interesting Japanese brand of grocery. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Price not cheap but you expect to pay a bit more if you need something special, especially from Japan

Lots of great items for sale. So many items from Japan that you can't get in typical Asian markets. The whole complex is great.

A neat bespoke grocery store that offers many staples for cooking Japanese cuisine among other Japanese snacks and drinks. They recently relocated across the way in J Town so the layout is improved. The staff are friendly and ready to help as well.It is a little tight so you need to slide past people when it's busy, but not a reason to skip this store!
