Chief Dan George School

My initial review was removed. I will just retype the gist of it all.15 years ago there was a divide between the french immersion staff/students with the regular students at this school. It was to the point where it seems like we're rivals gangs that just had to put up with either in this neutral ground, but the majority of the issue is that the french immersion faculty (mostly the vice principal at the time) only ever dealt with the french immersion so was completely biased it most situations.Long story short: I was bullied, I fought back. Vice principal made it out like I assault two of his precious students while they were surrounded by a group of their friends all by myself. There was no explaining because... They spoke it all out in french. To this day I still have nightmares of this situation.

Most of the teachers at Chief were okay -- their personalities were superb and mostly excelled my previous teachers in demeanor. Most of them, though. However, what I didn't like about my Grade 6 and 7 teachers was that they hardly gave us any work to finish in class or at home. Take my Grade 7 math teacher (aka my homeroom teacher) as an example: he only took us on walks and taught us about fungi, plants, or animals. I mean, I did learn pretty interesting stuff about stinging nettles, but literally the only thing my class did was just chit-chatting and the teacher teaching us stuff that I wouldn't normally need to get into high school or university (unless my dream job was becoming a environmentalist). The games when we were in forests for the walks were healthy, I must admit, but wouldn't it be better to have a fit combination of academic studying AND exercising? I barely learned anything while I was there except French and a tiny portion of the Grade 7 Math curriculum I would've learned in other schools. Another thing -- the kids were sooooooo harsh and mean. I wouldn't recommend this school at all to foreign newcomers because when I first came to Abbotsford, Canada, and attended this school, the kids there used my poor English as an advantage to get me into trouble. For example, I got into trouble for saying the N-word"
