Love Peterborough and love a lot of the downtown restaurants etc. But the city has let so many other parts of downtown fall to pieces and it's driving people away from Peterborough unfortunately. They could make downtown thrive if they put their effort in the right places.

Biggest downtown ever for a place that size. Lots of restaurants and the farmers market was amazing.

The Downtown area has had a lot of challenges such as big box stores, other malls then Covid hit and Amazon drove in another coffin nail. There are still some great shops and restaurants but also some empty stores.Bit by bit renos are being done by the business. There is a lot of potential for beautification.

What to say about downtown Peterborough. First off, at times George Street can be a beautiful walk as someone who was born and raised here I have seen many changes to the downtown landscape over the years. Downtown has lost the charm it once had in years past. A lot of the stores have closed up. The remaining institutions are still great in their own regards. The food is great at the places that have survived two years of lockdowns.

This is a hard review.1st. I love the local shops and all they have to offer for sale.2nd. The local owners make it a pleasure to do business.3rd. I find unique gifts and food.HOWEVERI DO NOT FEEL SAFE!It seems every coroner has people asking for money, smokes or rolling papers; this last one because of weed outlets and the increase in retail outlets.I don't go after dark, being a senior I feel like a victim. The eyes of scary people watching my location, looking for an opportunity to rob me.I will continue to support local owners and shops; just wish there was an increased police presence.

Absolutely terrible never set foot again. I would give it a zero if possible. Absolutely feel sorry for the store owners down there.Anyway, my wife wanted to go to Costco and a few stores in the downtown that she found online. We get down on George street go in the first store to come out and find a $25 parking ticket on our window. After that we took a closer look around to find out that there were park and display stations on the street that we had no idea were there. We threw some money in the machine and the wife continued to shop. By this time the stores have been open for a half hour or so and my wife starts making comments on how the people on the street were looking homeless. We walk around a corner and low and behold there are homeless people in tents one street over from main street. That was enough for us and we probably had about a 10 min walk back to our car. Durring this walk we could not believe how many more homeless people showed up on the streets.I will say the store owners and staff were very nice but we will not be back. Way to sketchy of a place my advice is stay away. I do hope that Peterborough enjoys the $25 from the packing ticket they handed out because it will be their last dollar from us. Kingston is a much nicer and cleaner town with a Costco for the wife.

I love my city. Pretty good downtown that has a deep rooted culture of homeless people unfortunately. Having said that, my wife and I would never move and love the quirkyness that Peterborough has to offer.

Unless you're into dining out, there isn't a lot in the downtown except that it's close to the river. Millennium Park and Crary Park are great. And there is the public library so you can geek out. But there is also a lot of panhandling and other non-related criminal activity. Be aware and take advantage of cultural events and the Farmers Market.
