Obsidian Ridge

We stayed at the Hillside Suite in March 2023. Although we were really looking forward to it, it was a let down. The price was the biggest issue for what you get. For $300 per night, you expect something amazing. At first glance it is... then when you get into the details of what makes a good overnight stay, it's a let down. Upon arrival we were met with a VERY cold room that took an hour to warm up. The water is smelly and unusable (so they should supply many more bottles of water), the toilet isn't attached so every time you sat on it it wobbled, the bed and linens were nice even though the bed made noise. The cute little hot tub outdoors was not clean as it was not rinsed out very well (paint chips and goo on the bottom and skin cells (we think that's what they were) floating on the top). Tried to use the indoor bathtub hoping for some cleaner water, but that was brown and smelly. There is NO shower other than the small indoor tub. We ended up showering when we got home as we felt so gross from the water.The place was super cute, but small with no place to put your luggage or bathroom bag by the sink. No real table to eat off of aside from the outdoor table which in below zero temps is not fun. IF this place was priced at $100 per night, we feel the value would have been more in line with what you get. Although the wedding venue pictures look amazing. Ask yourself What could be missing?" and do you want to overpay?"

So far this place has been amazing! We are having our wedding here in 2024 but have Ben out to the venue several times for different events. That said as I go along we will keep you updated but so far it's been a fantastic one stop shop for the wedding day and they've put us in contact with pretty much all the other vendors for our wedding which has made planning super easy which is what I wanted.

Words can’t describe how amazing this venue is , everything is perfectly executed me and my wife had the best day & night ever . This is a “one stop shop” you get your groomsden and bridal suite to get ready in , breathtaking ceremony and reception area side by side , fire pit area for when the sun goes down and an amazing honeymoon suite to sleep in. Beautiful areas to take photos, it’s everything you want and more in a venue, to many to features and options to listGreat service from all of the staff , very friendly and nice . To the main people I spoke with during this wedding process and throughout the big night ( kaylie , tegin , layson , Keith ) I want to thank you for an amazing experience.

As the owner of Talent Productions, a DJ & Event Services provider here in Edmonton, we service over 200 events per year, working with multiple venues and vendors. Obsidian Ridge is a beautiful venue and property, but what really makes Obsidian Ridge shine is their team. Layson and his staff are absolutely incredible to work with. They are continuously working on making the property better, adding more amenities, but most importantly they are consistently working for their couples. Making sure that their experience is amazing. The minute you step foot on Obsidian property, you are now their guest, and you are treated as so with great hospitality, kindness and respect. I highly suggest you check this venue out if you are searching for a wedding venue!

Brilliant location!!! Lots of space! Areas for kids to play and camp. Great location for any type of gathering!!!

It was an absolute nightmare dealing with this venue. We met back in August to book for our wedding next year. At that time, we were told that the date was available and to await a proposal from the team; to figure out some specifics due to the size of our reception.Over the next two months, we tried to contact the owner several times to get an update. We were either told that the team was still working on it, or got no response for weeks.The management kept stringing us along, by telling us the proposal was in works. Only to find out later (3 months) that they had actually given the date to another party. The entire experience with this group was extremely frustrating and highly unprofessional.

Great experiance, and what a beautiful place for a romantic wedding.

Beautiful location!! Stunning!! Was there ens of July for my friends wedding and it was wonderful!!The only thing I wish was that the room where the bride got ready was bigger. The groom and groomsmen had a huge area to get ready with lots of games and a bathroom but the brides area was a grain silo which became quite small when the brides mother and photographer, makeup artist and hair stylist and flower girl and 5 bridesmaids were all hanging around getting ready/waiting.Other than that, amazing location! Very beautiful and one of a kind experience!
