I get all of my bugs for my reptiles here. Crickets from other stores seem to die quickly, but i have bought up to 3 dozen at a time here, and had nearly all of them survive til fed. There is a lot of variety, so you can feed your reptile a varied diet. Some bugs available: silkworms, mealworms, superworms, crickets, hornworms, wax worms and a few more! Also a ton of reptiles and amphibians to choose from if you are looking for a new pet. The uromastyx in this store is such a sweetie!

I'm super happy to discover and support this store so close to home. Lots of enclosures, decor, substrate and reptiles/amphibians/invertibrates!Staff is always very helpful and friendly.They also do great work in the community and the industry by arranging shows, support a local reptile rescue and local education facilities.

Small store, lots of variety. Some reptiles were either being not probably housed or in the middle of hopefully being moved around. Very tight space for more then 4 people. Don't sell live rodents for feeders. Unless you special order a head and was told even then it's not a gaurantee. Don't ask or you get snapped at. Server was doing her job however she could have had a more welcoming attitude. Store is good for basic reptile needs, I wouldn't recommend for more special needs.

Fantastic store! I went in for supplies for our frog and Carolyn was super knowledgeable and helpful. She was showing me the frogs they had and was informative about they care and types. Than when I went back for crickets for the current frog she helped us get everything we needed to get two of their Dart Frogs. Great experience. House of Scales was recommended by a friend and will now be my go to store.

Great place with super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Came in last week looking for a new type of food for my Whites Tree Frogs other than crickets. The lady at the front desk (unfortunately, can't remember her name) helped me to figure out exactly what I should be feeding them and even helped me find a new light for the tank. My new go-to reptile store in Peterborough.

Have been here a couple times in the last year, (I go pretty much every time Im up in Peterborough) and have had some pretty good conversations with the owner Gord, its a well run business, and the animals are all well cared for. They have a good selection of ball pythons, boas, and cornsnakes, but also get in animals like carpet pythons and hognoses, so theres plenty of choices. As well they have chameleons, and various geckos. All this backed up by a good selection of supplies for your reptile needs makes them a great place to shop.

This place is a reptile owner’s best friend. Countless times your staff has provided assistance and advice to whatever I’ve been dealing with. Your store carries a wide array of products to suit any possible need a reptile owner may have. The prices on feeder insects are simply unbeatable. I was spending $16 for crickets alone at Petsmart, and here I can get hornworms AND the same amount of crickets for that same cost. Not only does it help my pockets, but it helps a small business’s pockets as well. I’m very glad to see you got your sign for your store. You guys rock and I will continue to see you every week.

Bad experience here ordering 2 rats. I was told they would be in the following Friday I called that day and it sure sounded like the woman was having a bad day and being very rude to me and my Fiance when she went to pick them up she got mad because I called from work and she told me they were not there as my fiance was on the way so she decided to be rude to her also telling her I called in a very rude manner. It's very unfortunate as I go above and beyond to be respectful just to be treated with disrespect. The 11 dollars I lost was worth not dealing with them at all. If you work in customer service at least be respectful towards your customers I can't imagine the revenue lost just because of this employee.

I was just in there today to pick up some meal worms for my bearded dragon and I am very impressed with this store! The meal worms were a good size, very active when they warmed up, and I don't see any dead ones. I had some questions about my next reptile and they were very helpful and knowledgeable. The store is well organized, clean, and visually appealing. The cages for the animals are well decorated and the animals seem quite content. I look forward to getting my feeders from them and, eventually, my next reptile.
