Very impressed with the level of care and patience they show with my never-even-had-a-babysitter toddler. He is adjusting well and started picking up new words on daily basis.

My very picky daughter was lucky enough to spend a day with Danica at Areakids and had the time of her life, she keeps asking when she gets to go back. Danica is one of the most fun, patient and creative ECE’s I’ve met.

My kids often reminisce about this place! Danica is great, we miss you.

Danica is an amazing, patient and caring person. Danica has tons of experiance in child care and is the perfect person to look after your little ones.

I feel that it is important for other parents to know about what to expect when enrolling their child in this daycare.My child attended this day care five months. Initially I thought it would be a good daycare, and the owner seemed knowledgable and provided me with some good advice when I was calling around looking for daycare for my son. My child started in sept 2022.We were told that he was having some behavioural problems in December. However, we found out afterwards that, that these problems had been happening for a while, and we were not informed.When these behaviours started, instead of trying to support our son with us by developing a care plan together, the owner decided that she would tell us to have him assessed by his paediatrician and had us sign a consent for the support worker assessment by Onesky. She knew and told me that it is almost impossible to have a support worker for a child with needs due to the waitlist of this town. In the meantime, we as a family contacted any and all support options to help our son to help him outside of the daycare program. The daycare did not implement any of the feed back on how to help my son that was provided by Onesky.At the end of February we were told of another behavioural incident and were given “ An emergency care plan“ that was NOT discussed with us.It stated that if our son was aggressive, he would be picked up immediately. If not, he would lose his spot in the program. We were also told he would no longer have a spot as of the end of March. We were informed by owner that the daycare does not have the manpower to predict his behaviours. Punishment such as sit at the table and think about what you did was used. It is completely NOT age appropriate and makes me so upset to think about my three year old son being forced to sit at a table, separated from his peers, and not knowing why. It was also upsetting knowing that he was having problems at the daycare, and they were not willing to support him in any way other than requesting an emergency support worker from Onesky which only happened at the end of Feb.During the last couple weeks my son was enrolled at the daycare, we were forced to pick him up if he had any sort of behavioural problems towards another child. This put both myself and his father of risk of losing our jobs. I had reached out to the owner of the daycare to ask if we could all get together to discuss a care plan so we could all be on the same page for him and she said “I don’t see what page we need to be on”.I ended up taking my son out of the daycare, almost immediately after we received notice that he would no longer be able to attend due to how uncomfortable and unsupported I felt. Daycare’s are required to following the licensing rules, and early intervention and prevention is part of helping a child succeed in any daycare. Not only were those not followed or used, but my son was blamed for all of his actions and we were told that “the parenting unit is doing nothing outside of the daycare to change this”. It would have been helpful to work together as a team to support my son, and if that did not work, I would have happily pulled him out of the daycare and moved on.I would highly recommend anyone considering enrolling their child in this daycare to reconsider especially if their child has any sort of developmental delays or may require any sort of care plan. It is evident that this daycare is a good fit for some children, (or families are settling due to the lack of childcare in Penticton) but it was not for ours. I am really disappointed in how the owner of the daycare did not try to help our son or work with us to support him. Please do your research on all childcare facilities. FYI: The Interior Health website has all complaints/inspections posted for public knowledge for all daycares. I urge you to read these when deciding on a daycare.

I love Danica, honestly Areakidsdaycare is the right choice and a great daycare. Its where kids play and are happy, my child always looks forward to going to the Areakidsdaycare and is learning kindergarten readying.
