When I was a young child 60+ years ago, this was a park that I always played in. Years later the government added this recreation centre. Upon my inspection, I found a beautiful, modern, wheelchair accessible place for seniors with plenty of parking right up to the door, automatic opening doors, and a grand entrance just to start. It is really nice and clean with courteous, friendly staff and lots of lovely volunteers to assist you. There is a really lovely cafeteria with a large fireplace and plenty of seating that offers hot meals that are nutritious, delicious, and reasonably priced. My sister and I went last year to get my income taxes done for free. We had a really lovely lunch while we waited for service. It made income tax time so much easier. They are always very busy with every kind of activity available for seniors. So if you are a senior looking for friends or community service assistance come on in and check it out. Thank you so very much Sackville Hill Recreation Centre for all of your assistance especially with my income taxes.

Well I'm not sure about the Seniors Centre itself, but the park and playground around it are nice.Shady area right by main building with a kids play area and some picnic tables etc, swings and lots of places to relax while kids tire themselves out (hopefully).Good spot to bring a dog with lots of open space, a track for running and a few sports fields.I do think it's nice to have programs dedicated to Seniors as there are lots in this area and eventually we'll all be Seniors too, so good to see the community support.

Seems unfriendly. Clique mentality.Lots of activities though, lots of parking and facilities. But unless I am with a friend, I feel alone

Sackville, is a bubbling venue for so many different classes. Check out cityofhamilton website; registered class option, stating in box, age 55+. Their summer session runs from July 4th into first week's of September. Not sure is a yearly $30 membership is still required, give them a call. Classes are only around $22-? range. So reasonable. How wonderful, many a thank you to the family, who built this building. A tribute plaque, is on the wall, hive it a honorary read, and reflection; as you enter the building. Bless them, for honoring us, contributing this building, to hold classes for us seniors, to get together to have fun laugh and play together. I joined, country line dancing. They have art, guitar, piano, ukulele many exercise classes and, drop in"

Oct 18 2020. The centre is one of the only 4 centres that have reopened this fall with limited programs. I have joined to take advantage of the informal wood carving program. I do simple caricature carving like the kind done by YouTube carvers Doug Linker and Kevin Coats. If you are interested in the same type of carving then this might give you a chance to meet other like minded carvers. Drop in time is from 1:30 pm to 3 pm on Mondays.November Update 2021If you are looking to book into the wood carving class at Sackville, forget it. For some reason the specific date and time for the carving class has been deleted and this class is now lumped in under the category of “Hobby Time”. Good luck trying to find fellow wood carvers now since there are 6 different dates throughout the week that a person could book into the 'Hobby Time' class. The original reason I came to this centre was because of the dedicated wood carving class so I could learn from other wood carvers. They need to correct this and give the wood carving class back its dedicated time slot. In the mean time if you are interested in wood caring then I suggest you come out to the Ancaster Seniors center and join the handful of carvers that meet there on Thursdays. See you there.

Tax payers money at work. Community centre with all kinds of programs. Cost is decent. Good way to enjoy activities, meet people... Or just get out if the house.
