Disrespectful, patronizing, condescending, rude. Did not listen to me, interrupted me, told me he would listen to my questions after but then brushed them off and made a phone call during the appt after the receptionist came to give him a message, was one of the biggest waste of time, and one of the rudest people I have ever had the unfortunate experience of meeting. He has no investment in his patient's or their health and should practise his medical degree" in a different capacity that doesn't require dealing with patients. Those that gave him a 5 star rating for his "no nonsense" approach

I was referred to him by my doctor back in 2016 for my allergy problem. He wasn't listening to me as I was telling him what triggers the allergy but instead he was telling me its dust allergy which wasn't true. I completed the course which he prescribed and here I'm still with same allergy problem after 6-7 years.

I read that Dr. Wong interrupted people in some of the reviews here, so I went into my appointment a bit wary. What I discovered, however, is that Dr. Wong has a long list of specific questions that he needs to have answered in order to have context for understanding each individual case. Yes, when I tried to provide extraneous information, he did interrupt; but a) that kept us on track and made sure he had the information he needed, b) he was quite gracious about it, c) it ensured that our appointment was efficient and that he kept to his schedule, meaning no one had to wait for an hour to see him, and d) he ensured that I had my say once his questions were answered. If you go to see Dr. Wong, know that he is a kind man who is extremely diligent and competent. Answer his questions, and save your information for the end; he will ask if there's anything you'd like to add, and will listen intently to your story, asking relevant questions. It was also the most painless allergy test I've ever had, and his advice was extremely helpful! Thanks Dr. Wong!

I had been suffering from allergies since I was a kid, and my doctor, Ivo David, recommended I see Dr Wong. My reactions included severe fits of sneezing, coughing, dripping nose, and watery eyes that would last several hours, basically nonstop. Especially the sneezing. When I would get this way I couldn’t do much else and the attacks happened more and more frequently into my late 20s when eventually I went to see Dr Wong about 10 years ago now. It took a few months before I could see him, and I did find him to be old school and to the point. He did the standard scratch tests, which revealed serval things I was reacting to, which included cat dander, and dust. These were areas that had been pointed out to me since I was a kid - but several foods that a doctor I’d seen in my early teens didn’t show up this time. Anyway, he put me on shots I took I think twice a week at first for a few months, then weekly, then every two weeks, and finally monthly over the course of about two years. And it did help. He stuck to the science of it, and I remember he did ask if I’d ever used alternative medicines for fighting my reactions and warned against them and supplements. I rarely ever have attacks anymore, which is great. It was even impacting my love of fine arts and working in drawing, film photography, painting and sculpture. Before I saw Dr Wong, one university professor advised that I should stop pursuing my BFA because of them. I remember too how some workplaces would roll their eyes when I’d call in sick from an attack and I’d actually just go to work during one so they could see how incapacitated I was. It was funny working at a call centre, when I’d get a call I’d have to apologize and warn the caller I was having an attack and might start sneezing uncontrollably during the interview. I’m so glad that kinda stuff is behind me. It’s also nice knowing I’m not allergic anymore to the cats my Mum owns and the one my ex-girlfriend’s family owned. I would have to take several antihistamines the morning I woke if I knew we were going to either place. The times I didn’t take one and went - I was guaranteed to be sneezing the rest of the day. So I do credit Dr Wong with helping me out and over time, after seeing him regularly over that time, he became more easy going and he even had a sense of humour come through. But yeah he can be tough. He doesn’t have patience for BS, but at the time he did teach the subject at UBC (I assume he probably still does - it’s just been awhile since I saw him). My dad was Korean so I grew up being able to understand him with his accent. It was similar to Dr Wong’s but if you’re patient and speak clearly, it’s ok. I’d recommend him to anyone cause the results are there for me.

It was not a good experience. I went to him because I suffer with hives almost everyday . He didn't listen to my questions and interrupted me in a rude way. I could barely understand his English and he was annoyed when I asked him to repeat. He did some basic tests that didn't show anything and sent me away saying I had a mild allergy to dust (don't we all?) so to keep my house clean and wear loose clothing. Seriously?? What kind of medical advice is that? When I ask for alternative treatments so I don't have to take anti allergy medicine all the time he said I cannot give you any recommendations". I agree with some people here that he must be doing this for so long he just acts like a robot

Dr. Wong is the friendliest doctor I have ever met. Not only he was very elaborate regarding my allergies but he’s also very personable and funny! I had to wait few months for the appointment but it was worth it. I definitely recommend him!

If you have chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU), I probably wouldn't recommend this doctor. His ideology seems to be based on allergy-based conditions alone. I would have appreciated the recommendation for further testing (e.g. potential auto-immune-based conditions). He recommended that I continue taking the medication (highest doses of antihistamines) and avoid all potential triggers if possible. I had to request further testing, which unfortunately didn't make me feel confident in his abilities to help me through my journey of discovering what's causing my condition. On a final note, he was pretty rash over the phone, but he seemed friendly, polite, and willing to listen in person.

If you get recommended to this practice...go somewhere else! Such a waste of time. He's a nice guy, pleasant enough but I feel like he's been doing this same thing for so many years that he is in autopilot mode. To check my glands he quickly prodded my neck and when he asked me to say ah" he has already moved onto looking in my ears before a single sound came out my mouth. Just ticking the boxes. I tried to explain all my problems but he kind of just kept saying "yes" like he wasn't really listening and kind of cut me off. He somehow managed to come to the conclusion I was allergic to dust and dust mites. I had the 6 little tests...all came back clear but he was still certain I was allergic to dust and gave me another prescription for steroid spray. He told me to come back to have more tests done and talk about the allergy injections. I went back a couple of weeks later and he just speedily went through the injection procedure. I asked if he was going to do more tests but he told me to book another appointment. What a waste of time

So far so good. I am not sure what some reviewers here are looking for. I am looking for someone who is to the point and will get me back to work fast, not someone who I can become friends with. I have seen him twice and both times were smooth with no issues. My GP and Dr Wongs opinions on my progress and allergy shots are identical, so it is good to know there are no differing opinions on my progress.Parking can be a bit of a gong show, but has not been a major issue for me.

This doctor does not deserve the title of a doctor. So unprofessional and so rude. I was referred to him by my doctor for allergy test. When he come to see me, his attitude was weird. He asked me few questions and did not listen to what I said, instead kept asking more questions before I finished my answers. Then he asked me to roll up my sleeves for test. So I did. He circled few areas in my arm and then poked outside those circles with a sharp blade. And then he poured some kind of medicine on my skin but not on the poked skin areas. How can you get result if you circle one area, poke outside the circle and then put the medicine somewhere else? When I was done, the front desk wanted to schedule a follow up appointment, I said hell no. I will never come back. Interestingly, this doctor's business card contains sooooo many medical titles and I thinking how can this person get so many degrees. He was also a professor in one of the universities. This is what I experienced with this doctor. And you know what? I waited a long time until I was able to see this SPECIALIST!!!!
