Pelicanstay near Rideau Canal

No acostumbro a dar malas puntuaciones por problemas menores y que no tienen que ver con la calidad en general de un lugar como Pelicanstay; por eso, ofrezco 4 estrellas, pero debo decir que de entrada tuvimos una mala experiencia con la anfitriona. Ella debía esperarnos entre 3 y 4 pm pero llegó a las 4 y 15 pm aproximadamente. La llamamos al llegar y nos informó que estaba en su casa y tardaría 40 minutos en llegar. Al llegar nos vio y sin saludar entregó las llaves y se fue rápidamente. No ofreció explicaciones. Fue muy grosera. Debía decirnos el número de aparcamiento pero lo envío por texto por lo que debimos esperar más tiempo antes de estacionar el carro. El apartamento era el 512, estaba limpio pero las sábanas para el sofacama estaban húmedas y sin doblar. Dudamos que estuvieran limpias pero sin embargo nos cobraron 90 por limpieza, mientras tuvimos que lavar las sábanas y además la cafetera que también estaba sucia y con un filtro de cafe viejo adentro. En general el apartemento no estaba perfectamente limpio. El baño ubicado a la entrada tenía rota la palanca de bajar la poceta (toilet), es decir, inservible. Al día siguiente encontramos un aviso de seguridad en nuestro carro que indicaba que estábamos en el puesto erróneo y que debíamos ir a otro puesto porque de lo contrario remolcarían el carro. Y gracias a Dios fui a ver el carro porque realmente no lo utilizaría ese día. La anfitriona nos indicó el puesto 182 cuando realmente debíamos aparcar entre el 115 y 118. El aire acondicionado el cuarto principal es muy ruidoso y se enciende y apaga cada 5 minutos, lo cual molesta si tienes sueño ligero. Es importante que los clientes sepan que esto no es un hotel. PelicanStay cuenta aquí con unos 4 apartamento tipo Airbnb por lo que cualquier reclamo o petición que quieras hacer luego de llegar será difícil que obtenga inmediata respuesta.

Okay stay but this company is a bit shady. If you book with them, take pictures and keep your receipts. You may need them to even prove you were there.THE GOOD:*Although I booked a one-bedroom, I was “upgraded” to a 2-bedroom unit at no extra charge.*Their rep, Marisa, was very friendly and responsive during my check-in*The location is right downtown next to everything downtown has to offer.*Access to Roku TV was nice too. -The kitchen was well stocked with pretty much everything one needs for an extended stay.*Plenty of beds (3) and the sofa turns into a bed too.*I wasn't charged the $250 damage depositThe NOT SO GOOD:*No Air-Conditioning - I had to keep most of the windows opened just to get cool air. No fans were provided and some rooms were much hotter than others.*Very Noisy Location - My unit was located right at the end of the building facing towards Laurier & Nicholas Street. The traffic noise was insanely loud. I was there for work purposes and during my conference calls, I had so many instances of noisy interruptions. And because I have to keep the windows open while it was hot, the noise affected my sleep most of the time.*Roku TV was disabled when I arrived and the remote control had dead batteries. Thankfully, I’m a bit tech savvy reconnected it. I didn’t get a refund for having to buy new batteries, as I was told I would. I left the receipt there but no one got back to me about it.THE SHADY PART:I had booked the entire month of May (1st-31st) and my subtotal was $2793.42 (before taxes and fees). I prepaid in full almost $3400. On May 30th, I suddenly get a notice from Booking (.com) that I didn't check-in and to confirm my stay. I confirmed it and Booking claimed they would investigate the sudden cancelation status.Long story short, my points earned for the stay is “unconfirmed” because apparently PelicanStay initiated the cancellation. After multiple emails and dealing with customer service on both ends, PelicanStay Ottawa has yet to justify this action. My reservation still shows up on Booking (.com) as “canceled” despite spending so much.So, just be careful because it’s unclear why they attempted that and it makes it even more strange that they refused to give a proper explanation. If you stay there, take pictures and keep your receipts, like I did.

This is a follow up review after waiting for a refund for 1 year since cancelling the stay in Mar 2020. The cancellation note promised to return the security deposit and change after subtracting cancellation fee 30 days after cancellation. Today, 1 year later, there still has been no response. Also, the review posted before magically disappeared to clear the record. Staying with this company is not recommended.

No response from housekeeping. Broken toilet, clogged tub, stained mattress, nail clippings, food between fold out sofas and etc...please, please be very careful of this place. Very unsanitary and they take money for sercmvices they don't provide. The cleaning is unprofessional especially now during covid. They took money from me they shouldn't have. Honestly think twice about this place.So going in to November now and still no response. Seriously, I am warning anyone staying here that this place is unsafe especially during COVID. It is dirty, falling apart and they take extra money from you in the end. I still feel disgusted all these months later

We had a very nice stay here. There was a great set of amenities providing everything we needed for our 4 day stay. The location is excellent as it is close to Rideau Mall and an easy walk to the nightlife in both the market and on Elgin street.

As I unfortunately have already payed until the end of the week I would urge others not to stay here. I've called countless times and they just say sorry but as I've already stayed here a week with a broken shower and a broken toilet they still won't send anyone to fix them. They also dont respond to most calls and texts. The room on a side not wasnt cleaned before I moved into it as I found nail clipping all over the living room. An update when I posted a complaint to there facebook and they then blocked me. They do not care about there customers at all just the dollar's.

Very disappointed. Toilet does not work. Shower is clogged. Odd stain on a mattress that is just on the floor with no bed stand. Cannot get a hold of anybody to fix these things. No one is replying or answering. Do not recommend!

Je n’ai pas eu la chance de séjourner mais j’ai du annuler mon séjour. Ça fait plus d’un mois et demi que j’attends mon remboursement de plus de 820$ en plus qu’il m’ait chargé 171$ de frais d’annulation sur une autre carte ! Service médiocre !!
