Spent a couple days at this hotel. I found it quite charming, I loved the older style architecture and styling choices. It wasn’t just another bland business hotel. It was a great price in the heart of downtown Victoria and had two pubs on either side. The carpet was actually really thick and they had personal AC for each room. The staff was friendly and prompt (when the elevators broke in the morning they were fixed by the time I returned in the late evening). The bed wasn’t the comfiest and I wasn’t a fan of how my room window was facing the windows of other rooms across from me (separated by about 2 - 3 meters). I didn’t see anyone else in the other rooms but if it was busier it may have been more of a hinderance.Overall, I would visit it again and recommend for others who are cost conscious and looking for a unique feel.

The location of the hotel is awesome. Lobby is good, reception is warm. I, however, quite didn’t like the room. The window overlooked another room’s window. The window Air conditioner was noisy the whole night. Bathroom doesn’t have a tub, and less space to move freely. It was clean though. The TV was installed so high, almost touched the ceiling. One has to literally look all over up to watch it. Only one chair provided in the room, so that was a discomfort. Overall that was an expensive deal with inadequate service for $185+taxes.

Rooms are very clean, spacious, staff was cordial and helpful. Just keep in mind it is an older hotel, but everything worked perfectly. The location is very convenient, close to restaurants, shops and excellent for anyone exploring downtown on foot.

We only stayed for one night in a deluxe queen room. It was a spacious room with a couple of big windows with blackout curtains, and even a partial view to the water. I was pleased that the air in the room felt fresh and had no odours whatsoever (I had read reviews mentioning smells but we didn't notice a thing, and I am very sensitive to that). It was odd that the coffee maker wasn't located near a working outlet when there was one on the other wall, so we just moved it onto a different table. The plug for the jacuzzi bathtub was missing it's rubber o-ring so it leaked out as we were trying to fill it but we managed to rig something up to stop it and enjoyed a nice soak. We loved the old kitschy features of the hotel, and the best part is the location can't be beat! We would stay again for sure.

This hotel is charming, well located and you can’t beat the price. I had a fantastic stay here back in March and I’m looking forward to coming back to Victoria and staying here again. Our room was a good size, the bed was comfortable, the heating was at a perfect temperature, and yes, the bathroom sink was located across from our bed and not in the bathroom, but that will happen in hotels that are over 100 years old. If you go to Europe, you will also see this from time to time. We also got a great recommendation for breakfast (John’s Place) from the staff as we chose to sleep in and missed our breakfast at Bard & Banker (an excellent pub that we were at the night before). All in all, I was very happy with our stay!

Book this hotel if sleep is not an important part of your life. The two front rooms, recently placed in what had been a conference center, have fabulous views of the street which is diligently cleaned every morning starting at 5am. Pubs in the alley below the huge windows enjoy lively music until midnight. The clientele spills out onto the sidewalk in exuberant mood well into the night. Triple glazing the windows and heavy drapes would help with the noise. But it will still take five to ten minutes for hot water to reach the shower.Try as we might, we could not get the TV to work. If the management uses their own remote to check the TV's condition, perhaps they should try the one in the room instead. The King bed sags in the middle. A couple of concrete blocks would quickly solve that problem. The hotel is conveniently located. We easily walked from and to the Blackball ferry. It is clean and seems to be well run. We would stay there again but would call first and discuss the pluses and minuses of available rooms.

When I opened the door to my room, I was given the best view ever! The morning sun streamed through the windows, and they gave me the view of the street abuzz with activity; the room cleans and pretty! The staff at the front desk were helpful and polite. Thank you! I had the most pleasant stay!

Super cute hotel. Will stay again. You can hear the music from pubs, but considering it's in the heart of vibrant Old Town, it was fine. You feel like you're in the mix of things. Everything is within walking distance. Enjoy your stay!

Lovely boutique style hotel, reminds me of Paris! Fabulous location to park your car offsite, and walk to everything. Dozens of restaurants with outdoor patio seating as well all within walking distance. Our room was quiet, very clean, recently updated and the only downside was a lack of working plug-ins...but it did not hinder a great three night stay. Would absolutely stay again and great value in the inner harbour

My husband and I regularly stay in a harbour view room on the 3rd floor and we love it, especially the wood burning fireplace and the jacuzzi tub. This is an old building, but immaculately clean and comfortable. The location is ideal for checking out the sights and scene of downtown Victoria. The staff are wonderful as well. 100 percent would recommend!
