Purchases, including paintings, are shipped well-packaged; have never been received damaged. Shawn's responses to any inquiries are professional, quick and have met my hopefully reasonable requests/needs. Certainly one of my go-to auction houses for interesting and unique purchases.

SO GRATEFUL! I purchased a large floor vase weighing over 20lbs. Smooth communications with the team for not only shipping but shipping an oversized object to the US. The vase was packaged carefully and double boxed. I would do business with them again.

Spooner Auctions is, in my opinion, the most professional and trustworthy auctioneer and estate appraisal management firm in Ottawa. They helped my aging parents out immensely when they downsized their home, helping them to understand the value of their household assets and the best way to liquidate them for maximum price. I also enjoy attending their monthly auctions and find it a much more enjoyable and exciting way to buy unique treasures than looking for things online.

I bought an older clock during the last auction. This clock was appraised (by the auction site) for a considerable amount of money. I had faith in this appraisal evaluation and purchased it with the expectation to have for a fully functional clock, which was comparable to other working clocks from this era. However, when I brought it home it didn't work at all. I called the auction service the next day and they said they don't guarantee clocks and would not offer any further assistance. I felt cheated and told them that. Now I have to pay additional money ($100 +) to repair my clock. My advice to others is don't trust the appraised value posted and avoid these auctions.

Shawn provided efficient and professional service from our initial contact requesting information to closing out the transaction with a detailed accounting for the consignment and proceeds from the sale, which exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!

Online auction. Exhilerating! Always something I want. Bidding is fun but nerve racking when someone else appears to want the item as much as me. You have to set a $ limit or you will end up paying more than you should;-) Can visit site for viewing if you want to be sure of the item.

When my parents were downsizing they found it quite difficult to part with some of the antique furniture that had been in the family for generations. Shawn was both compassionate, and realistic about the market for such items. He did a great job at setting expectations and when the furniture didn't sell at auction he went out of his way to find a buyer. The whole process was painless for my parents and my sisters and I were glad to have the job done quickly and professionally.
