I have loved hockey since I learned what the sport was. The Nanaimo Minor Hockey Association does the sport, the community and the players justice. It has been a pleasure working with the organization and the families of Nanaimo. Our family is looking forward to making many great memories at the rink.

We have been apart of Nanaimo Minor Hockey Association for the past five years and have met so many great people who are apart of this great organization. The programs they offer keep our children active through September to March and additional programs such as Esso Fun Days, Summer Hockey Camps and Spring Sticks let our kids get out and enjoy the great game of hockey. Our kids are learning to be apart of a team with all the kids they meet and play with along the way.NMHA is very organized and professional. There is always someone there to help you with anything you need.Thank you everyone at NMHA.

We moved from Abbotsford Minor Hockey, to NMHA in 2017.We were welcomed by everyone we met and found ourselves volunteering within our first 3 weeks.Almost every volunteer we have met, works their tails off and tries to make every experience a great experience for the players both on and off the ice.Our last season our oldest was on the Peewee Tier 1 zone team (I don't count the 2020-2021 season as a season due to Covid) and it was truly our best experience ever in hockey. Huge thank you to Jamie Wilson and Lee Clark and Travis Briggs for coaching these boys - you created experiences that will last a life time!Thank you to the hard working board members as well, it is a pleasure to volunteer alongside of you all!

We are so happy to be a part of the Nanaimo Minor Hockey family! It is such a great community of people and our kids are all blessed to be a part of this sport. Thank you for all you do for each family and member on the ice.

My son was not a skater. All of the other kids his age were skating so well, but my son just couldn't figure it out. That didn't matter to the coaches at Nanaimo minor hockey. They had him using a cone when he needed to use it, and they worked with him one on one, when they had the chance. Now, my son races his coach, because he is a super skater. That was because they never gave up in my son, and helped him learn confidence so he realized that he could do it if he tried hard. They even helped this helicopter mama, to step back, and let my son shine. He is now a hockey monster!

I have been a coach for many years and am thankful that I have had the opportunity to do that. With hockey on the island your stuck with VIAHA at the helm and they are terrible. Because of the politics, the association always looks out for themselves only.I will not coach anywhere VIAHA is in charge due to lack of smarts and compassion. As for Nanaimo Minor Hockey, I am a proud supporter of them. My son has made many good friends and always looks forward to the next season.

I have been a part of Nanaimo Minor Hockey for the better part of 29 years. I started as a player in Pee-Wee when my family moved from Alberta to Nanaimo. It was a great way to meet new people and make fast friends.I played all the way through to Midget and loved the game and the hockey community so much I kept involved as an official. NMHA was such a supportive group to be a part of. Through their wonderful training and mentoring programs I learned more about the game of hockey, was selected for a scholarship to summer referee camps and above minor camps paid for by NMHA to encourage learning and growth in their local officials. Thanks to their support I worked my way up to working Jr. B and Jr. A hockey all over the island.Today I have come full circle as I now have my two boys playing hockey in NMHA’s U11 division as I cheer them on as a proud parent in the stands, watching them grow in skill, confidence and creating their own lifelong relationships within this great hockey community.NMHA has given myself and my family a place to go, a wonderful community to belong to as well as an extended family and new friends every day we go to the rink.

The past 4 years with NMHA have been great both on and off the ice. So many good memories and new friendships made! Minor hockey is an awesome sport for the kids and a perfect way for parents to volunteer in the community.

NMHA is a wonderful organization providing children and youth hockey opportunities for players of skill levels and abilities. Driven by many volunteer hours and dedicated coaches; NMHA is a great way for players to develop their hockey skills, build friendships and have fun!
