Krantz Drywall & Painting

We decided to hire out the drywall finishing when renovating our 550 square foot garage to apartment conversion. Paul Krantz had good online reviews, quoted us less than half the cost of the other contractors, and said he could start the next week so we said yes. He quoted us $800 to mud and tape with all materials included but we took his recommendation to include priming for $1100. When his crew, Jim and Jim, arrived the next week, my wife paid them the $500 she had on her. I was concerned when I got home from work and saw the drywall mud on the windows, doors, door handles, hinges, removable covers, my radio, my work lights, etc. but after two weeks of 4-hour days it looked like they were doing a decent job and only had a couple day’s work left. We were out of town the second half of November and had programed a door code for the crew so Paul asked my wife to pay the balance before we left so they could finish while we were gone. She paid them another $450 and we head out expecting to begin painting and installing flooring when we returned. Big mistake! We got back to find no progress in two weeks. The Jims came back a couple of half days the first week of December but made little progress except to wheedle another $100 out of my wife to buy more materials" after they had already used the remaining 3 gallons of primer I has bought for another project. We hounded Paul and finally got him and the Jims out on December 11th to “finish” the job. They worked two hours
