Motel Rideau

Price was decent, only needed a room for one night. Room was clean. However, when we asked at night for an extra bedsheet they wouldn’t give us one unless they took the one we already had on the bed??? We wanted an extra, not a replacement…not very accommodating. Also, the bathroom didn’t have good shower supplies so I couldn’t have a shower in the morning without driving to a drug store to grab body wash. Overall, if I ever find myself wanting to stay overnight in montreal, I will be opting for a different place.

If you approach this like your first apartment, you will not be disappointed. It has a homey feel, I felt as if my grandmother had prepared the room for me. She had glaucoma and could not see very well. The room was tidy but there was moldy grout in the bathroom of the motel. I liked the fact that one could sit outside and smoke and enjoy the fresh air. There was a power outage in the room at night. Running the heater was a problem and may have tripped the breaker. The reason there’s no hair dryer, iron, or coffee maker in the room is because there is not sufficient capacity to run these items. Lights flickering during the night or while running the microwave added to the ambience. Paper Cups and toiletries are for sale in the office. Staff was nice and friendly until the bitter end when they told me I would not be receiving my full deposit back because there were three wet towels. They said they would never be able to use the towels again.

If you found this place while searching for rooms you did so because of the price. Yes. It's the least expensive motel around and it's only a twenty minute drive across the bridge and into Montreal. Just know that the room may smell strongly of weed and tobacco. Know too that the decor to your room could be a blanket draped over a couch in order to hide who knows what. The area the motel is at is nice and it has a view of the river. That said, it was disconcerting to see an old sign on the lobby desk plexiglass partition for faxing criminal issues to the police. The night time lighting for outside the rooms is a dim LED rope light that casts more shadow than light. Finding your room while coming in after dark is a hit or miss affair. I'm sure that there are some more up to date rooms in the complex but ours left us concerned about electrical fires and sitting anywhere except the bed.

The rooms are absolutely filthy. The first one was obviously used as a smoking room at times. The other two offered had stains food (or ?) all over the walls.They would not let me cancel my room and charged me 20%.I have NEVER left a bad review anywhere before...this is just too much! Avoid at all cost.

Such a pleasant stay! We were on a road trip and stopped here along the river! The receptionist was supper friendly. The room is clean, and the bed is comfortable! It has a beautiful garden besides St Laurent River!

One star only because zero wasn’t an option. The new ownership is absolutely shameful. Between the bugs, mould and pure unprofessionalism from the desk host, this was not a place to recommend. Rude and abusive staff and unclean rooms make this a must avoid local. The blatant fire code violations (electricity, smoke alarms, exposed wiring) are just the beginning of the issues you’ll encounter here assuming you are lucky enough to not spend your whole stay trying to get breakers reset.

Worst experience of a motel ever.We arrived late in the night with two other friends, they had difficulty to retrieve our reservation and to tell us if the room was ready of not.After long debating we got to our room, and one of the employee brought an air cleaner machine. He told us to stay in the room with the machine running and that it will be ready in 10min.2 minutes later me and my friends started coughing (one of them is asthmatic). Then to my surprise I read on the machine Caution : use in unoccupied space only" and that it can cause respiratory irritation / mucous membrane.We immediately told the employees and without apologizing the "boss" told us to just let the door open.This insanity let us to ask for a full refund (which we got) and move to another place.Do yourself a favor

They charged $5 because the floor towel was dirty when we left. Do they not wash the towels??? Then charged an extra $10 for bringing a tiny dog. There were no dog fees listed on website. Also, a shady guy with a knife was in the parking lot last night. Both my boyfriend and myself eyes hurt after sleeping there for one night. I think the ac unit above the bed was blowing dust or something else into our eyes all night. We should have spent the extra money to stay somewhere nicer.
