this is actually my first time going because I often went to Hon's. their short ribs and grilled egg plant are so good. amazing stuff. its good even when cold too. I had enough food for two days. hope one day it opens again in Chinatown. good bye.

The cheapest Chinese foods I've ever had so far in Vancouver. Decent large portion. Two items with rice or noodles is about $7-8 dollars. Food quality is good. But they accept cash only! Still highly recommended this place.

Super budget dine in or take out. It ain't pretty but the food tastes very good. Dollar value for this place is excellent! Good selection of dishes on offer and constantly being replenished. Remember to take a number from the dispenser or you'll be waiting for a long time!

Cheap food at cheap prices.Walk in. Grab a ticket from dispenser. Then line up and starting picking.Kent’s Kitchen have got to be the best place for cheap Chinese food in Chinatown. More than 40 item selections starting at $6.95.This place have bigger servings than the other location at Victoria Dr & E41st ave.You can eat in or take out. They also offer free tea. The tea cart is located next to the kitchen. This is a cash only place. No credit card or debit.

I use to go there for lunch back in the 90's, but haven't been there for almost 10 years. I was walking around Chinatown again last week and to my surprised, Kent's kitchen was still there. I figured it would have been gone like most of the shop in that area. The decor is dated (don't think it changed since the 90's)and looks kind of dirty. They say you can tell how good a Chinese restaurant is by how many Asians are eating there. I notice a lot of Asians still eat there. The food was very good, portions were big and the price was under 8 bucks. It actually taste like authentic Cantonese style food, not westernize like like other places (*cough* T&T). Probably not worth the drive out from Surrey on a regular bases, but now that I know it's there, I'll definitely be going more often.

CASH ONLYGreat spot for cheap, large portions Chinese food. Tried the bitter Melon, fried shrimp, fried squid, bbq pork, and mixed beef meat with daikon along with chow mein noodles and fried rice. The bitter melon, bbq pork and fried shrimp were good. The squid was hard and chewy was not fresh at the time. The mixed beef meat with daikon was amazing, had it along with the bitter melon to balance the richness of the beef. The line up is more of a free for all but they had a lot of staff that were quick. Cash and pick up only.

It's back under a new name, Tato's Kitchen. Same stuff from what I can tell.Server is super friendly, I went here after work at 6pm and got 2 combos which fed 4 people. One combo is $12, she gave me 2 for $20!They stack those takeout containers absolutely full, she took out some rice to pile on more of the toppings which I really appreciated and gave me a half and half topping which was supposed to be extra for free! This place will continue to be a treat I bring home after a long workday.

I don't come here much, but the few times I do, bang for your buck is high. I looked around today and there's certainly going to be a lot of issues coming in the neighborhood. More than a handful of seniors waiting to grab their food, and another handful of encampment-types waiting their turn... Out of 12-15 ppl in the lineup were 2 office-type workers plus myself. A lot of people on tight incomes will be pretty hungry after this month. Truly an institution.

This place has been a staple in Chinatown for many, many years and is now officially closing its doors. It’s CASH ONLY so be sure to bring cash, I’m certain the Victoria one is the same. They don’t expect a tip, and give back exact change. As many have said, portions are massive! You get your moneys worth in terms of quantity. There isn’t anywhere to sit so you have to take things away. It’s similar to some of the food you’ll get a food court, but just more plentiful.Sad to see them go, but it’s been a hell of a ride!
