Un peu d'histoire de la municipalité de Saint-Barthélemy.La paroisse de Saint-Barthélemy a été érigée par décret canonique de l'évêque de Québec en 1827. L'église est construite en 1866 par l'architecte Victor Bourgeau et l'entrepreneur François-Xavier Archambault. En 1852, la municipalité du hameau de Berthier est établie. Elle devient une ville en 1865 et adopte le nom de Berthierville. Elle fut située sur le territoire de la seigneurie de Berthier jusqu'en 1855, puis sur celui du comté de Berthier jusqu'en 1982. Avec ses nombreux rangs habités et ses vastes espaces cultivés, ainsi que le riche patrimoine qu'elle a bâti, on peut encore aujourd'hui l'admirer entre Berthier et Maskinongé, témoins de ces premiers temps de travail effectués par ces générations de pionniers. Saint-Barthélemy offre donc à ses visiteurs, un paysage qui oscille entre deux extrêmes.A brief history of the municipality of Saint-Barthélemy.The parish of Saint-Barthélemy was erected by canonical decree of the Bishop of Quebec in 1827. The church was built in 1866 by architect Victor Bourgeau and contractor François-Xavier Archambault. In 1852, the municipality of the hamlet of Berthier was established. It became a town in 1865, adopting the name Berthierville. It was located in the territory of the Berthier seigneury until 1855, then in that of Berthier county until 1982. With its many inhabited rows and vast cultivated areas, as well as the rich heritage it has built up, it can still be admired today between Berthier and Maskinongé, witness to those early days of work by generations of pioneers. Saint-Barthélemy offers visitors a landscape that oscillates between two extremes.
