Casa Hugo Mexican Eatery & Tequileria
We walked by Casa Hugo's the last time we were at Crystal Beach and really wanted to give it a try but one of our guests doesn't like Mexican cuisine so we had to bail as they don't really have anything on their menu that is not Mexican.This week we had the opportunity to go back since we were at the cottage and I'm glad we did. The food was authentic and fresh. I ordered the Taco's which came with 3 Taco's of your choice and a side of rice and refried beans. The Taco's were great, complete with taco shells made in-house. The refried beans were also delicious. If I had to have one gripe about my meal it was that the rice was dry. I will add some pictures of the Taco's, I had the Beef, Pork and Shrimp Taco's.I will definitely be making another visit here as I want to try the Chicken Enchaladas which also looked amazing.

Drove 30 minutes to try this place out on recommendation. It was definitely not worth it. Service was slow (waited almost 20 mins for our drinks, waitress said she was waiting for our drink orders to be filled, it was just soda). We ordered the street corn as an appetizer, it was the star of the entire experience but not really worth the price. Our mains we ordered tacos (me 2 beyond meat , partner 1 beef barbicoa and 2 originals) each taco is 6$ and the platter with a side of beans and rice is 18.95 which we were charged for even though we didn't want the combos. All of our tacos the meat was cold. Not slighty warm, actually cold. They were bland (barbicoa was tolerable). They fell apart almost right away. Dessert was so bad we ordered the cheesecake (if you can call it that it was basically avocado slop) and the deep fried ice cream (not great but not as bad as the cheesecake). Our drinks were slow to be refilled and the entire experience was sub par. It was not extremely busy while we dined. I would not recommend and not be returning

This was our first visit to Casa Hugo since before Covid. There were 5 of us, all seniors who go out for dinner together every week or two and we try to go to different restaurants each time.We were looking forward to a good Mexican meal (based on our previous visits) but sadly the meals didn’t live up to our expectations. Everything we ordered was bland, not well prepared and rather insipid.Two of us ordered the chicken enchiladas. I was not able to discern the presence of chicken so I opened up the tortillas and found a few specs of very finely ground meat that I’m guessing was chicken. The so called house sauce ( on the side) tasted like overly salted tomato soup. The sides of rice and refried beans…dry and tasteless.I could continue but I’m sure you get the message already.The only positive thing we all agreed on was the service. Our server was friendly, upbeat and attentive. Excellent service! I’m sorry I forgot to make a note of her name.Other than our server this was our most disappointing meal out this year. Not only was the food not up to snuff but the prices are up about 30-40%. Price is not the issue…value for prices charged is!Sadly we will have to cross this place off our list.

July 1st long weekend, Monday, no management on floor, long wait for food and drink. One bartender who unfortunately was rude to me and told me I couldn’t order drinks at the bar because “obviously” she was the only one working and was behind on orders. Not obvious, and the comment was unnecessary. While I understand being understaffed and the stress, do not take this out on customers. Do better Casa.

First and last visit to this place. Quite a letdown from the start. Staff was very unorganized and didn’t know where to sit us. Sat on patio finally bit asked to go inside and was told all seats were reserved only to notice about 5 minutes later they let another table go inside when they asked. We finally got our food after waiting some time and compared to other places it was almost laughable. Watered down sauce. Very salty. Pretty sure the food sat under a heat lamp for quite some time as well and it wasn’t even that busy from what we could tell. Mentioned this to our server and she pretty much shrugged it off. First and last visit.

Unfortunately this restaurant did not impress me but the food was very good, it is nice if you can get a margarita made the right way… traditionally you would make it more authentic but I was not impressed probably will not go back.. they should work on hiring someone more qualified seeing that they charge for drink that are not great.!!I personally cannot recommend this place if you want drinks but the food it quite good ..

Atmosphere of the patio was awesome. Very clean, nice music tons of drinks. Owner was very nice, waitresses were spectacular hard workers. It's on the list of my definitely go back to.

The overall experience was okay. Nothing memorable. Service was slow although the place was not busy at all. Our mains we ordered the taco platter with a side of beans and rice, and the chicken enchiladas. All of our tacos the meat and tortillas were cold. They fell apart. The meat had good flavour. Too pricey for what it is. I would not recommend and not be returning.

Casa Hugo Mexican Eatery & Tequileria
Authentic Mexican food. Very tall menu, busy place at peak hours but you get served at a reasonable time. Guacamole is delicious and the tacos were fresh. Price and portions are reasonable and cleanliness standards are met. Lots of parking available and an open patio is available weather permitting. Great place to sit back, people watch, enjoy a cool beer on a hot day and the staff are helpful and friendly. You must try it.

Authentically flavored Mexican food. Quite a variety on the menu. I enjoyed tacos with three different fillings. Frozen drink machines with virgin or alcoholic options. Biq tequila list, though I didn't try any. Nice patio. Good service. Pretty good Mexican food for Ontario.
