I called John when a renovation in our house caused a flood into a bedroom. He answered the call even though it was 11:30 p.m. on a Sunday. He walked me through what I needed to do that night and was there the next morning to start the inspection and drying. His team arrived on time and were pleasant to deal with. He gave me great advice on dealing with my insurance and my contractor. He was detailed, professional, an re-assuring, and did a great job communicating with me. I would highly recommend him for any water damage related inspection or repair. I will call him without hesitation if any water damage occurs in my home in the future.

I have a small apartment with black soot stains from candles. We hired John and his team recently to deal with sewer backup and basement flooding in our Toronto house. To say they exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. Throughout the whole process John was diligent in addressing the multitude of issues that came up and kept us constantly informed. He also kept excellent records and dealt directly with our insurance company to help complete our claim. I was in a crisis with a flooded basement from a sewage backup issue. I reached out to John and he was able to flex his schedule to ensure he could come and inspect my home within a few hours of me calling. The inspection was thorough, and John made sure to explain everything clearly. He was also able to arrange for the cleanup service to be performed very quickly after his inspection. I was very satisfied with the job that Lamar, the serviceman, performed. He was polite, prompt, and was kind enough to dispose of any rubbish we had in our basement. The quote provided was also very reasonable compared to other quotes I received. I would highly recommend Select Restoration to anyone in need of water and fire damage restoration!

As first-time homeowners with a newborn at home, the last thing we wanted to see on a Sunday night was our basement inches deep in water after a big winter melt. We called John late at night and he arrived at our house within the hour. We were horrified and had no idea what to do. He immediately made us feel more at ease with the situation and walked us through what the entire process would entail, from removing the water to dealing with our insurance. The next morning, his team got to work. We have worked with a number of different contractors, and we can honestly say that John’s crew was the kindest, most genuine group of people we have dealt with in the industry. I actually enjoyed chatting with them throughout the day and their presence was not a bother at all. In a few short days, the basement was completely dried out, all damaged contents and walls/flooring removed, etc-- fully ready to rebuild. Everything was kept organized and tidy. All of our contents were documented and sent to us in an organized document to submit to insurance- the entire process was literally flawless and hands-off on our part, which was exactly what we needed. John kept in contact with us multiple times a day throughout the process to provide guidance and a clear path forward, which kept us reassured that all would be okay. Pricing was competitive and beyond worth the service we received. We cannot thank John and his team enough for not only the work that they completed, but also the calm that they brought to a very nervewracking situation.

We had some water damage from faulty washing machine piping, and John was really great. Even though I called on a Saturday, he got in touch with me immediately and offered to come over within an hour (the expedience felt unreal!). Being a new first-time home owner, I was out of my depth, and John took the time to assuage my concerns regarding insurance; I felt very reassured by his experience/expertise, and was grateful for his patience and help in retrieving the information he needed to complete his cost report. He came with a very comprehensive tool kit, measuring and documenting for us the unseen water underneath our floorboards. He got the cost report back to us in just 1 business day I think and the quote seemed very reasonable/affordable. We are very appreciative of all that he has done for us and how communicative and professional he is, would definitely recommend!

I don’t write reviews often, but when I do it’s because the community needs to know, John @ SELECT is the man when it comes to insurance claims, emergency services and doing good!It was Christmas Day morning we discovered a slow leak in our basement. I called a handful of companies I found on Google, John’s team was the only team to call me back the same afternoon and immediately offered me free advice on what to do myself. He didn't need to come same day, so we booked for next day. He arrived himself with all his tools to check for water and mould.For the last two months, he’s been the only person who cares and has been following the details, everything from the emergency work to the things insurance missed in their own estimate of our house.He’s one of those guys who works for the big insurance companies, they know him, his reputation and his estimates are realistic. He was able to get what we needed to restore the damage from the flood. No disputes, super smooth, I'm super happy.If it wasn't because of him I wouldn't have noticed the low estimate our insurance company offered at first.If you’re reading this and are looking for someone help you with emergency work and restoration with an insurance claim, talk to John, he’ll ensure you’re doing things by the book, in the right order. 

There’s a lot of scammers out there taking shortcuts and taking advantage of customers in an emergency situation, becareful.John knows a lot about water damage, mould and how to restore things to how they were and he takes care of all the paper work, without any addition fees. I called Select to provide a second opinion after receiving an astronomically high estimate from another restoration company, whom my plumber had recommended when he repaired the leaking facet. The first contractor had surveyed the damage and told us we would need a full replacement of our ceiling and potentially several (if not all) kitchen cabinets. Although that contractor wanted to start immediately and we felt immense pressure, we thankfully waited a beat to do some research and found Select. And we are so glad we did! The damage estimate went from $$$$$ to $$$ within minutes when John (from Select) surveyed our home. From the first moment we called to when John arrived at our home, it was clear we were dealing with professionals. After a thorough inspection and detailed discussion covering all my questions, it was also clear that Select operates with a high level of integrity and experience in the restoration business. Although we were lucky this time to not have as much damage as we originally thought, we now know we have a local business who will be there for us for a future emergency. I also want to mention that there was actually no pressure applied when John laid out our options and provided a simple quote if we wanted to pursue the work. On the day of the clean up, the technician promptly arrived, was polite and explained everything, including details on the safe products they used to clean up our cabinet. We experienced a consistent experience when they promptly picked up the equipment 3 days later. We are so pleased we met John, who saved us from what would have been a bad decision. Instead we got a honest and fair assessment. Select had our best interests at heart.

We reached out to John for some advice about work in our house. He was very quick to respond, very honest and helpful. He advised us on the best route to take for our issue and recommended an electrician. I really appreciate his guidance!
