Such great people and incredibly skilled, honest and reasonably priced. We plan on using them more often for sure.***Update November 2022: They came and did more work for us! Replaced two storm doors and caulked around our bathtub. Another great job supplemented with great communication and an effort to help us get this situation resolved before the colder winter months.

Have used Hammell Homes three times over the last year. Kitchen plumbing for a leaking pipe. Most recent, to build a wall in a large bedroom to turn a 2-bedroom unit into a 3-bedroom. Hammell Homes did an excellent job in soundproofing the wall as requested, installed electrical outlets, and followed city code of installing five CO2 / smoke detector units throughout the unit. Rick Hammell responds quickly with questions via text / email / phone calls. Easy going - easy to work with as issues arise during construction.

I had several l repairs that were needed that included plumbing, recessed lighting installation, drywall repair, installation of a tile ceiling and cleaning grease off my kitchen ceiling fan. Rick and his team did an EXCELLENT job with all my tasks. I look forward to working with the Hammell Homes team on future projects.

Hammell Homes did a great job rehabbing bedrooms, installing completely new hardwood and vinyl flooring, and fixing small repairs along the way. They’re very responsive and accommodating to any needs. I’d recommend to anyone doing a home renovation or repair.

Rick and Chauncey are a great team to work with. Rick is a master carpenter. His work is beautiful, he is METICULOUSLY clean and precise in his work. Rick has strong opinions as to how the job should be done correctly and he is up front about any challenges that may arise. He is transparent and a good, responsive communicator. Rick and his team replaced all the baseboards, window casings and door casings in our home. He also did a beautiful job hanging interior doors and installing chair rails. We also highly recommend Paul who did the electrical work, which included putting in electrical outlets, converting old outlets into Decora-style modern outlets and installing a bathroom fan that vented outside. At first, I felt Hammell Homes’ pricing was on the high side but the quality of work, the attention to detail, the cleanliness of the worksite and the timely completion of the work makes working with this company a no-brainer.

Rick and his team of professionals are the absolute best! at getting the job done right, with a strong focus on quality and customer care. I had known about Hammel Holmes for a long time, however I did not call him after submitting numerous request for different contracters on Angie List. I was well aware of the high quality work that he was known for. Mr. Holmes is a highly educated builder and contracter who cares about his employees and customers. He phoned me one day and asked me why had I not called him back after submitting request for contracters since I knew him. I told him that I did not think that I could afford him. Rick has had a great reputation in Evanston for years for being the best that comes with a little price premium. He told me that it is better to pay for quality than to keep paying over for poor quality work. He was right. I dedcided to give him a try that day. He came over, emailed me estimate and did a fantastic job on all of my projects. His work has greatly impacted me and my family''s home and life. I will never go to anyone else for work on my home. Look no further, you have found the gifted one! Rick and his amazing team Dennis, Leo, Paul, etc are the absolute best.
