I met with Dr. Monk twice and I had to cancel after my dog passed away. I cancelled 1 week before our scheduled appointment and she did not want to book another appointment since weekly bookings are essential to her, even in times when you are not able to schedule one due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e. someone dying). She was not at all compassionate towards my loss and this is not the type of therapist I would recommend to anyone seeking advice. i would have given her no stars, but this system only allows you to post with a star.

Beverly is one of the therapists I refer to most. She has a special way of connecting with people and getting" them. Beautiful work with couples and individuals. Strongly recommend her."

My wife and I met with Beverly perhaps five times but it was largely a waste (and at $130 for a 50-minute session, an expensive one). She certainly makes an effort to understand what you are going through. But she is obviously biased towards accepting one person's insistence that a couple's marriage is over, insisting the other person HAS to accept the other's decision as a precondition for therapy, ignoring the long-term consequences for the couple or their children. At least this is the case when the one who is insisting the marriage is over is the woman, as it was in my case. If the situation had been reversed and I'd been the one insisting our marriage was over and my wife was the one wanting to save the marriage, I have little doubt she would have made more of an effort to try to have me see my wife's perspective in order to try to save the marriage. What I had hoped going in was that she would provide a space in which my wife and I could both be open about what each of us thought was best with neither taking precedence or priority. We could each explain our perspectives, why we felt the way we did, and in so doing come to understand each other. Instead of such a neutral situation, however, Beverly insisted I HAD to accept my wife's perspective that my marriage was over with no reciprocal insistence on my wife to accept my desire to save our marriage for the long-term good of each other and of our children who were (and are) so opposed to our separation. Likely because of the good feminist she undoubtedly is, Beverly never discussed or considered relevant what our children wanted, what was best for them or the long-term impact of divorce would have on our children or my (now ex-) wife and me. Only my wife's decision mattered. She may be a good individual therapist, but I would not at all recommend her as a marriage therapist. A marriage therapist should not take sides, as Beverly so clearly did, and should want to try to save a marriage if at all possible, which she clearly had no interest in helping to realize.

I had some dealings with Beverly Monk a few months back and she was very rude and not very compassionate. Judging by our short interaction I would not recommend her as a Therapist to anyone. She may have degrees but like the previous reviewer mentioned, she lacks compassion - which i think should be at the core of any good counselor's practice.

Beverly worked with me and my partner at a very tense moment in our relationship. I would say that she has changed the dynamic of our relationship after ten years.I am forever grateful for her.
