It was time to buy a house for our family, and after checking the opportunities with a lot of builders, we decided to buy a house from Dan Clayton homes. Small builder, but takes time and listen carefully for the details and pride of his work. Talking as a subcontractor after seen a lot of houses, it’s worth sitting with Dan and talking about your future house cause it’s worth it. We love our house and the neighbourhood, we couldn’t bee any happier with our choices!

We purchased a new build with Dan and it was great experience! Dan is very personable, and able to customize our home to our satisfaction. It was very easy to work with Dan. We built new homes with other builders before, but Dan’s superior customer service makes him difference than many other builders in town. You are working directly with Dan, who understand his customers needs/wants.Dan takes his work seriously and always tries his best to meet customers satisfaction.Dan has a team of excellent contractors that ensures the quality is topnotch.When you are buying a Dan Clayton Home, it’s not just a home you bought, it also comes with personal experience and superior customer service. We highly recommend you give Dan a call before you start looking for your next home.

We purchased our home back in Feb 2017 and was completed in October. We were able to customize everything in our home from the layout of the kitchen to the family room. We were offered a wide variety of colours and details to choose from. Dan came with us to pick our cabinets, flooring, counter tables, etc.. He was there to offer his professional opinion and gave us useful advice. We were really pleased with the outcome of our custom built home. There were small issues but, Dan came around to fix it or he would arrange other contractors to come if he couldn’t fix it. I would recommend working with DCH however you must realize he is a small home builder and there isn’t a customer service hotline or receptionist/ secretary. You have to be patient but the outcome is worth the wait. Dan is a nice guy and will help you out the best he can to achieve your dream house.

We bought a home from Dan & Rachel in 2020. We absolutely love our place. Dan and Rachel have been a pleasure to work with, and respond quickly to any questions we have. Any minor issues that are to be expected with a new build have been addressed by Dan in a timely and professional manner.

We've been in our home for 9 months now, and can't say enough great things about it. The space you get for the price is incredible, and Dan and Rachel truly make you feel like you've become a part of the community. They are quick to respond, passionate about delivering quality service, and somehow manage to remember every client's name in the process - making it feel like you're not just another nameless buyer. We deeply respect how they conduct their business, and how they provide more affordable homes for individuals, families, and couples who are local to Guelph.

We have worked with Dan Clayton Homes for many years now and our whole team has really enjoyed working with Dan and capturing his beautiful homes on video. He has a real passion for what he does, and this is carried out in the quality and attention to detail that show in the homes he builds.

We absolutely love the house Dan has built for us and we are grateful for the service he provides. Dan is always courteous and respectful. He has always taken the time to listen and to work with us to provide our dream home. Even after our home was built, he still provides an excellent service and is quick to resolve any issues (which is not many, but are common with new builds). We would build with him again which says more than anything else.

Dan has built my husband and I an amazing home that we absolutely love! We moved in June 2020. They made our experience so smooth, easy and stress free. Our first house was a new build as well, but by far it does not compete with Dan Clayton's work. He is professional, timely and accommodating. Rachel and Dan were fantastic to work with and always responded to our calls and emails in a fashionable manner. We were able to have all customizations we dreamed of. We have nothing but great things to say about their team and their dedication to their work. We would highly recommend Dan Clayton Homes.

Firstly, it is unfortunate that I have to write this review at all. Moving to Guelph was an exciting time for our growing family. We were happy to find an opportunity to work with a builder to build a custom home. We had been through this experience 3 times with Mattamy Homes. Repeating the process with the builder, Dan Clayton Homes seemed like the right option.His disorganization was observed from the beginning but we remained patient as he was inexperienced and young. We did our best to work with him. It should be known that Dan Clayton Homes is simply a single guy who works alone and does not have a staff. He hires subcontractors to complete individual parts of the home. These subcontracts are the best part of the process as they are usually locally established tradesmen that do good work. The bones of your house will be good because of this. However, the home owner is left to deal with Dan Clayton Homes for all customer service and warranty related items.Our frustration began when Dan Clayton Homes tacked on an additional fee on closing (thousands of dollars). Our lawyer had to step in and deal with the problem making closing day, a typically happy day, very stressful. Dan Clayton Homes was in the wrong, and we did not pay this fee. We later found out that the same thing happened to our neighbours, but they paid it, trusting Dan Clayton Homes. Our problems did not end there. The Tarion Warranty Program is a service provided to new homeowners to protect people from the builder. In our 3 previous new builds we had no problem with the Tarion process. We hoped for the same. This was not the case. All homes will have items that need to be fixed. This we all know and understand. For Dan Clayton Homes, fixing a builder deficiency is a problem as it means money out of their pocket, arranging trades to come back in, meeting Tarion deadlines, etc. Dan Clayton Homes does not have a warranty department and in the end did not do the repairs. Dan Clayton Homes missed the initial 120 day repair deadline with Tarion, an inspection was done by Tarion to warrant several items. The builder then missed another 30 day repair period. The builder asked us to cancel our appointments with Tarion, the builder tried to make side deals to avoid financial penalties/fines from Tarion. Knowing his reputation from our neighbours we have maintained our rights and are still dealing with warranty issues that he has not completed.The bottom line remains that the customer service is absolutely atrocious. Dan Clayton Homes is dishonest, disorganized, cheap, and very disrespectful. It has been almost two years since we moved in and we are still in a battle with Dan Clayton Homes as are our neighbours. This is not the norm with other builders yet we live on a street where it is the norm. Dan Clayton Homes has completed less than 10 homes and 5 of his homes/clients live side by side on Ingram Dr. We have become great friends with our common connection being the terrible customer service we have all received from our builder. I invite you to talk to us. Knock on our door and talk to us before you choose to make the biggest investment of your life. We will all have the same story to tell you. It’s a different story than the fake reviews that Dan Clayton Homes has put on their website. There are too many examples of unprofessionalism to tell you about here. With too many good builders in the Guelph area, I would not choose a new home with Dan Clayton Homes, not because of the product, but because of the disgraceful customer service. Please protect your investment.
