Drive past this place today and turned around to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The order was quick and the service was very friendly.I ordered the curry goat (boneless) with rice and peas and potato.Everything was flavourful without being too overpowering. Rice was moist and flavourful.Will definitely go back to try their other dishes.No seats, takeout only hence the express.

Was in the plaza picking up something else & saw this place and got excited as I haven't had Caribbean cuisine in quite some time. Noticed that their oxtail dinner is way cheaper than other places so placed an order for it. Got my dinner pretty quickly (one person finished picking up food as I arrived). Had it at home and it tasted good but sadly, the 3 large pieces of oxtail was mostly fat and what wasn't was dried out and not fall apart tender as I would expect with oxtail. Hopefully they can improve this. The other thing I noticed is that their jerk chicken is white meat only (no thanks!).

Island Foods Express is a takeout-only restaurant where you can call ahead to place your order and pick it up. I ordered the oxtail dinner, which came with three pieces of oxtail that were cut into large, medium, and small sizes. The largest piece is shown in the picture. I also ordered a serving of jerk chicken, which was also generously portioned. Both the oxtail and chicken were very flavorful, although I thought the oxtail was slightly on the salty side. It was stewed until tender and paired well with the rice, which was mixed with the restaurant's sauce and had a bit of spice. The rice also had some beans in it, although not a lot. Perhaps beans are currently expensive? The curried potatoes were especially delicious.

I ordered food today and ordered their hot sauce. They sent me their Tamarind sauce by mistake. When I called they said the next time I ordered they will send me a bottle for free. I had someone go to the store and pick up the hot sauce for me and they sent me another meal hot and fresh and free of charge. Top notch service to match the quality of their food. So glad they opened up a location in Markham that’s closer to me than their North York location. Amazing food. Must try!

I drive by this place all the time whether going up woodbine or down woodbine. I seen great reviews, so I decided to try it out myself. The staff are extremely nice and welcoming!I got myself the Jerk Chicken breast, on rice and peas with mixed veggies, potatoes and oxtail curry gravy!Overall it was delicious, but next time I'll def ask for a little more gravy! It was a refreshing meal, def recommend it!

Not enough space around to wait to take your order. Even when it is your turn to order, they'll just skip you anyways. Ridiculous and lousy service to be skipped over like that and not even an attempt to right any wrongs.Maybe they're just biased. But I'm definitely disappointed.

I was in the area and decided to try this place on the go. I ordered the curry goat roti and 2 spicy beef patties. They could not provided the pepper on the side, only inside the roti which is very unfortunate because how do I know how much pepper they will put inside. I have never heard of anyone not providing pepper on the side. When I arrived home, opened the roti, it wasn't curry goat, it was chicken! I paid for curry goat (which is more money) and received chicken. I had to eat it because I was over 35 minutes away. The curry chicken was OK but not authentic west indian food. Make sure you check your food before you leave this place to ensure you received what you actually ordered!

I have dined at Island Foods Express in Markham multiple times and have always been impressed with the quality of the food. The curry and jerk chicken are particularly delicious and always cooked to perfection. The prices are competitive, and the portions are generous. This restaurant has quickly become one of my regular go-to spots. The service is also very quick, and if you're in a hurry, you can call ahead, and they'll have your meal ready for you. Keep in mind that this is a counter service restaurant, so there is no seating available for in-restaurant dining. All in all, I highly recommend Island Foods Express for anyone looking for delicious Caribbean cuisine at a great value.

I usually order from a different place but saw this and wanted to see how it was. They also have doubles on their menu which convinced me to try it out.Ordered the Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat dinners. The chicken is moist and the curry had really good flavors. I had ordered non spicy with the hot sauce on the side. The food had nice kick to it so I'm not sure if they did make it non spicy.The doubles were very good. Outside of driving into Scarborough, I haven't found any other place that sells this close by. They make their own shells on site as well as their roti's.I'll definitely be coming back for the doubles and to try their rotis. I do wish their portions were bigger and they had coleslaw but I guess I just have to order more.

A small take-out counter of Caribbean Trinidadian cuisine, quick service at the counter or pickup for online ordering, tasty West Indies favours, boneless chicken curry roti was nicely spiced and flavoured, the Doubles had a nice pastry loaded with lots of Channa chickpeas. Nice & clean environment.
