Spirit of Math School Thornhill

The Spirit of Math program at the THORNHILL campus has been a mainstay in our home throughout elementary and now in secondary school. Our children have thrived and learned valuable study habits along with learning math concepts that go beyond what they are doing in the school curriculum. The teachers and extremely dedicated and you can really appreciate how much they love to teach math. They are always ready and willing to help above and beyond the class hours. Thank you for all your dedication to my children’s education!

Spirit of Math gave me the problem solving and math skills to succeed in all of high school. The staff members are amazing, and truly interested in your development as a student. The material is incredibly enriched and practical. Very happy to have had the opportunity to learn there.

We really, really dislike the location of this campus (FreshCo Plaza near the Pizza Pizza entrance). The traffic to get in and out of here it's just insane. At drop off and after class dismissal, it takes us 25 mins each time just to get home (15 of which are spent just trying to get out of the lot). Just the commute 2x is 1 hr 20 mins out of our day. To go east or north from the campus, you'll encounter at least 15 cars waiting to turn left at the light onto Steeles (and only 4-5 cars will make it per light).We live 3 km away and should be a 6 min drive, 10 mins in a busy day! Our dinner and bedtime schedule is always so delayed on math days. We're also constantly approached by panhandlers and lots of suspicious looking people around.For the location reason alone, we're reconsidering a different campus that's actually further away and has earlier classes. It was so much better when it was at the private school on Atkinson.

The teachers and staff at this location really care about their students and their families. They do their best to assist their students to unlock their highest potential by keeping in touch with parents and frequently checking in on their students progress. They explain complicated problems and use various tools to help children learn and excel. My son does so well at school because Spirit of Math Thornhill has taught him how to solve difficult math problems.

Extremely beneficial program for all students - and a phenomenal campus!! Introduces students to concepts in great detail before they are taught in school, allowing them to feel significantly more comfortable with the school material years in advance! The enriched curriculum is truly unique and a joy to learn. The teachers here are incredibly passionate and empathetic, providing a remarkable learning environment.

Spirit of Math has helped me a ton in different mathematic topics and has increased my liking of Math overall. I have attended Spirit of Math since grade 1 and it is very obvious it has helped. My grades in math and very well and I love learning about math, all credit to Spirit of Math, it’s program and the wonderful teachers.

I know everyone else says this is great and stuff but it really isn't, yes the teachers try hard to help and do everything they can for you, yes it can help your future with good job opportunities but They give more homework after every class than you would get in a month of school, not only that but the homework is extremely difficult and you will find yourself stressed to the point that it takes you 4 hours to fall asleep and your spending 5 hours every day of the weekend doing spirit of math homework. It also takes a way a lot of time for school work, maybe it helps you understand what multiplication is early but you have no time to actually get good grades in school because your doing spirit of math. I'm actually doing spirit of math right now (well actually I'm taking a break for a second) and I cant figure out the homework, I'm so stressed I'm shaking I had to retype practically every 3rd word I've written here. Oh ya I have a project for school that i have to finish by Monday (it's Saturday) but I'm working on spirit of math because it's making me so stressed I can't work on the project. So if you put your kid in spirit of math not only are you making them depressed your making them stressed, so when your kid starts to ask if they can quit spirit of math, hear them out.

Excellent math program and supportive learning environment. I attended Spirit of Math Thornhill campus from a young age, and have only great things to say about the high quality of instruction and teachers. Growing up, Spirit of Math nurtured my love of math and problem solving, developed my logical and intellectual abilities, math enrichment, and friendships to last a lifetime. The curriculum and class structure were very effective and interesting, I would look forward to each class every week. Highly recommend to anyone considering this program for elementary, middle school, and high school.

My daughter has been with Spirit of Math for the past three years at the Thornhill campus. The learning materials are practical, with real life applications and it along with the teachers systematically teaches students to engage problems logically and methodologically. In addition to the weekly sessions, there’s an additional weekly extra help session. My daughter took advantage of this and it is like having a private tutor addressing individual learning gaps.All my daughter’s teachers at this campus care, they engage her as well as other students to seek their level of understanding and builds upon that session by session. This is very important in math because unlike other subjects a lot of times one concept relies on the understanding of previous concepts. When students ask a question, the teacher would explain it in different ways for students to really understand rather than just expecting them memorizing. I can’t say enough about the quality of the teachers at this campus. How do I know so much about what is happening in class you may ask? My daughter took virtual class with this campus for the past three years and because my desk is close to hers, I could hear the class in progress.The owner of this campus is Nasreen and you can tell that she really cares and its not just a job for her. She would contact me to remind me about the early application discount before I forget, she replies to my email and phone calls during off hours to ensure my questions were answered and there was a time I accidently call her number by mistake and after I hung up after one ring, she called me back to see if I had any questions for her. Really, who has the time to do this?Spirit of Math has had a positive impact on my daughter’s confidence in approaching math and the hope is that this confidence will carry over onto other school subjects.

The teachers are professional, highly skilled, caring and committed to bringing out the best in all the students!
