Zum Linzer

We ate at the restaurant for the first time last night.. We found our waitress was friendly enough but very inefficiant, she could only carry one plate at a time and the service was very slow. The second waiter that cleaned off our table just came and grabbed our plates and said nothing ,,,We ordered an icecream for dessert and waited about 10 min to receive it and when we did, it was melted,, so NO I dont think we will go again.

I recommend the steak with home fries veggies and peppercorn sauce . Its the tastiest dish I've ever had the pleasure to devour!

Small five table restaurant that serves the best German food in town. Spaetzle was awesome. Only problem is the small size of the restaurant. Need to book well in advance

My family (a group of 8) went yesterday on Easter Sunday. We had reservations and the table was ready, what we were not ready for was the so so food and I would rather be anywhere but here today waitress. The waitress was getting frustrated when we were placing our orders. Some of my family had changed their minds and this was overwhelming for her. It took a while for us to get our salads and soup which were good. There was quite a pause before we received our main meal which is where the disappoint began. Two of the meals had cold home fries and one of them had burnt pieces all through it. Those of us that had spaetzle with out dinners-it was barely warm and had no taste to it. They tasted as if they were warmed up from the day before. The schnitzels and cordon bleus were good. The waitress never came around to ask how our meals were and also never came around to ask if we wanted more to drink. She noticed that we were finished and just asked if any one wanted a container to take food home and if any one wanted dessert. There was only one other table of 8 at the restaurant the same time we were so there was no excuse for better service. Two ladies came in that the waitress knew and got their drinks and the soup of the day before the salads and goulash soups came out for the table of 8. Mind you though the waitress did have time to take 2 glasses of beer into the kitchen for the kitchen help. We have been to this restaurant a few times and have never had any problems until yesterday. It seems that the chef who is usually there took the day off and the rookie filling in was not the greatest substitute! It will be awhile before we go there again.

Poor, poor all around experience. The main entree's were good, but everything else about the restaurant was terrible.Issue #1 - When my wife asked the waiter what his favorite thing was on the menu, his answer was I've worked here 14-years and never ate here once". That was it

We just discovered Zum Linzer having lived nearby for nearly 5 years. This is a small but quaint restaurants that serves great food. Reservations are recommended. We called on a Thursday evening and got the last available table. The prices were quite reasonable and the food was great. My wife loves the beer they have on tap and I really enjoy their cordon bleu schnitzel.Something that's really interesting about Zum Linzer is that you can hear them pounding out the schnitzels in the back when they are ordered. They're made fresh to order and the taste reflects that.

We had reservations for 12 people at 6:30, seated at 7:00, service was very slow, did not get our entrees until 8:45, cold food. Checks were on adding machine paper. Would not go back.

Since the restaurant was sold there are some changes. The positive one is the are open on Sundays now. The negative is: home fries and vegetables are swimming in oil and pepper steak sauce is not like before....was my no 1 choice but not now. Steak still nice and like the gordonblue. SerService is slow. Still good place to have a good meal for your money.

On just half an hour's notice they accommodated our group of twelve at one large table. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations from the menu. The food was fantastic!! Authentic and made with care; we could tell the chef/kitchen staff take great pride in the dishes they produce from scratch. My husband had the sauerbraten dinner, which came with made-from-scratch spaetzle (noodles) and lovely boiled red cabbage. I had the sole...which was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning and breading - delicious! Lovely tender-crisp carrots with sauteed onions and mushrooms, and crisp and slightly tangy homefries completed the meal.

Drove by the other day and the place was for sale. Could someone tell me what happened, this was quite possibly the best restaurant in Hamilton.
