Amica Peel Village

Don't let the fancy veneer fool you. The staff do not care about your loved one(s). They are more interested in socializing with each other than doing their job, and since no one is watching, it is permitted. If you want your loved one to be deprived of food and drink when they cannot speak up for themselves, then this is your place.

Do not let the appearance of this fancy retirement home fool you into believing it is one of the best, because it is definitely NOT!My mother has been a resident here since Amica opened its doors two years ago in Brampton. It is very new and has not established any credibility yet as to being one of the better retirement homes.I must advocate for my mother constantly by sending emails or phoning the staff. Last year I was in front of the nurses station with a few other family members and we were all dissatisfied with the nurses, PSWs and management at Amica.If you want an honest opinion as to what happens behind closed doors at Amica, ask the family members. I would rate this retirement home an F, meaning FAIL!!!

The place looks lovely and fancy; however, we are extremely disappointed with their inability to follow my father’s care plan. He has a bedsore and needs diaper changes. He must be out of his wheelchair for part of the day to nap and to avoid prolonged pressure on his bedsore. The care providers have left him in his chair and in a soiled diaper from 9:30a.m. until 8:30p.m more times than I can keep track of.We have contacted the director of wellness, the manager, and the director of the care providers. They know what his routine should be. He is unable to make decisions himself. They have all promised a change, but the same disregard for his care plan keeps happening. This has happened over and over again!When I toured the place I was told they would “work hard to improve his quality of life”. They haven’t done anything to help him maintain his strength (they resorted to the hoyer lift too quickly and he lost a lot of strength), they repeatedly speak over him and speak too fast, and they don’t seem aware of the proper strategies needed to work (patiently) with a dementia resident.

Friendly staff and well appointed facility. I look forward to my next visit.

So happy that I'm getting the opportunity to work in this wonderful building.

Nov 4 2021We were happily surprised to get a call from Enil Grabowski notifying us that Bridget H was going to do an interview on CBC re the “lyrics and legacies “ project. We know that Enil and Sophia’s tireless efforts along with JJ Berger’sPatience and talent resulted in an amazing interview and CD. Bridget was deeply moved with the outcome.The Hamilton family would like to congratulate Amica peel village for collaborating on the event. We feel most grateful for your cooperation and dedication to making seniors lives most enjoyable in Amica peel village.

Very disappointed in the lack of accountability of the staff at Amica. I have asked repeatedly to ensure that the panic button is placed within my Dad's reach and every time I visit it is hidden and nowhere within his reach. Then the staff don't bother to respond to your emails and voice messages on the matter. This is absolutely unacceptable and not how vulnerable elders should be treated.

Great for my mom

Wonderful place!

My Mother has resided here for 10 months. She has settled in nicely and has made many acquaintances. The staff all know her name and greet her warmly. Enil and Emilie are lovely and make my mom feel special. The activities are endless and there is always something entertaining going on. The star of this facility is Raul the main concierge and he is the heartbeat of this facility. He makes all the guests feel loved and special. Amica Peel village would not be the same without this wonderful man.
