Cowichan Bay Kayaking and Adventure Centre

Great place to Kayak! My group and I were complete beginners but Gary and Alex were more than patient and helpful! It was a windy day when we went which made kayaking a bit difficult for us but Gary and Alex were still kind enough to help us out when we needed it. Highly recommend!

My husband and I received a moonlight paddle for a wedding shower gift. We live in Victoria so we normally wouldn't be out that late on a work night but it was well worth it. Jack was our guide and he was fantastic. Very friendly and informative sharing information about the local surroundings. I would recommend this company 100%. Their motto Nice people to paddle with" is perfect for them."

We called the day before to make reservations for 4 people and it was easy to get kayaks for a couple of hours of paddling around in the bay. We were going to do two 2-people kayaks but after talking with us she recommended going with one of the 2-person 'sit on top' and two of their newer single person kayaks that are super easy and stable. They were great. There's plenty to see for a 2+ hour paddle; harbor seals, an osprey nest, jellyfish, kingfishers (especially good to head to the right and hug the coast as there's lots in the trees. If the tide is up, you can go up the estuary which would also be interesting. I could have paddled longer, but I think our group was ready to call it an afternoon and go have lunch and beer! They are located in a section where there are lots of shops and places to eat.

I hesitated for a long time to publish this opinion, but I had to do it. Unfortunately, my 2-hour ride experience in the bay was more than mediocre. indeed during my session the other client to report to the instructor that she wanted to stop after a little over 1 hour. moreover, we did not make much progress during the session… It would have been appropriate to make level groups so that everyone can benefit from the moment. or else give me an extra half hour with the instructor. the rest of the performance was ok…

Fantastic 2 hour paddle in the Estuary and around to Maple Bay. Safe, fun and informative. Highly recommended!!

Well prepared. First time kayaking in Cowichan Bay. Booked ahead. Everything was ready to go. I was pleased to see that they outfitted my kayak with all the necessary gear including a paddle float for self-rescue and an extra paddle. They also gave me a good briefing on some of the wave conditions that I might experience on my way to Genoa Bay. The Seaward kayak I used was an awesome fit and in great condition. I really enjoyed the kayak and trip to Genoa Bay and back.

We did the 2h night-time bioluminescence kayaking tour, and it was a superb experience. Gary was our guide, and he taught us all the necessary techniques to be safe getting in/out and paddling on the kayak before we got going. On our trip, we paddled around the bay, with lots of interesting facts about the area from Gary. By the time it got darker, Gary led us away from the lights of the village, where we were able to see the plankton bioluminescence more clearly. It was truly amazing to witness first-hand, and highly recommend anyone to come experience. We would definitely come back again. Thank you Gary and Coastal Bliss for such a memorable time!
