Bert's Automotive Transmissions

Over-priced. Dismissive. Arrogant. My van broke down, took it there on recommendation. Got their quote. Agreed. When I finally had to do some research, found out from 5 other reputable shops that the same work would have cost between $500 and $800 less. When I presented that info to him, he ridiculed me, said they were quotes from backyard mechanics. Whenever I tried to speak, he spoke over me. Paid the bill. He assured me that they guaranteed their work for 6 months. 1 month later, the transmission is leaking again. Brought it back. Denies that the leak is coming from the area of the transmission that they worked on, even though it drips from exactly the same spot (we monitor this in our parking spot, drips onto paper towel). Wants to send me a quote now for a new work order. Met with same arrogant and dismissive attitude. In other words, they don't guarantee their work at all.

Honest, quality work!I don't know what sums things up better than that? I gave these guys a frustrating project and they handled it like pros with great communication, and quality work. They went above and beyond to get me back on the road as quick as possible even with all the part shortages. After having my entire transmission rebuilt and CV axles replaced a couple months ago, my vehicle runs like the day it came from the dealership. I have a leaky rear axle seal causing me some grief now (Xterra life), and am definitely having Bert's do the work. I think it speaks volumes to be a repeat client with any company these days.

Good bunch of trustworthy, experienced guys. Help me get my old Chevy’s diff back in good shape. Don’t hesitate to pay them a visit if you need work done.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! If zero stars were possible, that’s the review I’d be leaving. Our vehicle went in to Bert’s (we made the mistake of telling them we would be away for 2 weeks) and went the full duration with zero communication from them. We would call for an update, they’d be “busy”, promising to call us right back, and never would. They misdiagnosed the vehicle several times- the problem would change depending on who answered the phone, and the cost would change with it.When we eventually called to say we were picking up the vehicle and not to do any work, they said they actually didn’t know what the issue was but they could refer us to another shop.We declined. Another mechanic that we found who came highly recommended by a friend diagnosed and fixed the issue (a control arm- a very simple fix) within a day.Do not give your vehicle to Bert’s automotive unless you’re looking to store it for months.

I have been going to Bert’s for a few years and highly recommend their services. The team is so kind, detailed and honest. I had an issue with some wiring for an airbag once and the team helped me figure out what was going on and didn’t even charge me for their consult/time. Such a great auto shop!

I can’t say enough good things about Bert’s. They’re knowledgeable, trustworthy, fair and just generally nice humans.

So friendly, super accommodating despite being very busy, and very affordable. They fixed a transmission issue (leaking right axle) for less than half of what another shop quoted me, even after finding another suspension issue and giving my car a much needed oil change. They raised the car for me and showed me all the problems before the repair. I will go there again and I would recommend them!

I brought my work vehicle there today at the recommendation of Fred's Auto on Fraser Street and the service I received today was 5 Stars all the way. My vehicle read a code for a solenoid (something to do with my transmission ) and I can tell you that as a female it isn't often that I Feel confident about what I am being told. The owner ( I am presuming) was patient with me, explained everything in a way I could understand, presented me with options and in the end dropped the transmission pan to see what the cost would be and then charged me nothing in the end.Now I am not giving 5 stars because I was not charged because I would have happily paid (yes happily) but because I felt heard, cared for as a customer and I felt confident that I was told the truth and presented with the best options for me. Not once did I feel pressured to chose one of the services that would have taken money out of my pocket . When I buy my new vehicle I will bring my car in and I will share with everyone I know about the amazing service I received. Thank you for your honesty today and for caring so much about your customers.

Awesome shop. I have a car with a manual transmission and it was clear my clutch was failing and I needed a replacement. This was around the holidays 2021 and most places I called wouldn’t even touch it. The guys at Bert’s fixed me up in a couple of days and gave me a loaner in the meantime. When it was fixed they shows me my old clutch and gave me some education for the future. If you are looking for some transmission work these guys are honest and hard working.
