If you normally stop at one of the fast food chains along highway 7, you're missing out! Burnside's offers sit down and takeout meals that are far superior. We tried a fried chicken meal and a chicken sandwich. The sandwich had great flavour with generous chunks of chopped fried chicken. The meal was very fresh, with crisp, well-seasoned wedge fries, and great breading on the chicken. Despite being fried, none of it felt greasy. One thing I found was that I got all breast meat, and I found it a tiny bit dry. However, my preference is for dark meat, so this observation might just be personal preference. As an added bonus, the washrooms were very clean, and they were open on Thanksgiving Monday! We will be back.

This place has a Chicken sandwich there that comes with out of this world potato wedges. I would say it is their signature dish. It is so good. It is worth the drive to Madoc and then some. I came from Oshawa to get it. Though I was in Belleville visiting a friend at the time we went. I will always go there for that sandwich any time I'm in the area. Soooo good and soooo worht it. I will have to take a picture next time of it and display it here.

It's pricey considering it's just ice cream for 2 small regular cones and 1 small cup of vanilla soft serve is was nearly $15. The service was great and the young lady was very patient with me as I was finding out the ingredients for the soft serve so my pups could have some. I'm have fond childhood memories of going to the dairy for ice cream after church on all Saturday night. I wish they would open up the window service again. All in all, the strawberry was delicious (I'd expect nothing less from Kawartha), the choco soft serve was enjoyed and my pups gave 4 paws up for the vanilla soft serve.

We went on the basis of the reviews and found that they did not give the real picture. We were given a table that made us feel sea sick. The wobble was counteracted by the sticky top of the table. The service was horrible no customer service or knowledge of the products. The food was ok but not great. Last but not least. When was the last time the bathrooms were checked, overflowing garbages and not the cleanest. For a establishment that claims it has been around since 1937, you would think they would be rocking it.

Great place to eat. Food have terrific. Service was fast. The Kentucky fried chicken was great and also the burger made out of the fried chicken cut up then cooked in butter. It was melt in your mouth. There was so much chicken on the burger that it was overflowing. Also the have Kawartha ice cream in about 12 flavors. A good way to round out your meal.

Stopped in as happened to be in Madoc. Review ratings showed 4.6, this was a lie. Service was terrible, was a steady stream of customers but not crazy busy. Food was average. Husband had a burger, he said it was good. I had a ceasar wrap, it was dry and the wedge fries tasted like old oil. Staff doesn't seem interested in customers and are unaware about the menu items. Table was sticky, and wobbly. Bathroom was smelly, dirty and had no paper towels. Will never return.

Amazing food!!! Stopped in on a road trip and the food was so good. Best jalapeño poppers we’ve ever had, not even a question.Bring your appetite because the burgers were HUGE!5 stars

We used to love it here but the last few times have been very disappointed! We have chicken burgers our last visit and the chicken was so hard I chipped a tooth! We went tonight and got burgers I specifically asked for plain I said on the phone multiple times as well as confirmed agian while picking up. We payed for one burger alone no fries or drink JUST the burger and they charged me $19 & some change! I was in shock and asked if this was correct for JUST the burger! She took $2 off and ended up paying $17 & some change only to get home with EVERTHING on burger! We thought we would give it another try but sadly not agian!
