I had always been a big fan of Jamaican food so I thought I would try this place. The location, interior were all nice everything else really needs some work. It took us 20 min to get drinks, the food was over an hour and the waiter pretty much told us that Uber eats takes precedent over in person guests and they are so busy ( there were 4 tables ). When the food came at 8:30pm ( we ordered at 7:00pm ) they didn’t have chicken ( it ran out after we had ordered an hour before ) and one of the ox tails was actually cold and a non-spicy salad was spicy. The drink prices were great and we got a free wine drink each but the frustration was just not worth it. If you have two hours go for a drink if you have all day plan ahead you should probably eat before.

The food was fantastic. I ordered a curry chicken with rice and peas as a side. The texture of the chicken was the highlight of the meal for me. However, my friends and I arrived late 2 hrs before closing. Nonetheless, the service by the waitress was timely, efficient and very welcoming.

Needs some updates on the decor or painting on the wall! Service is good, food is ok, i ordered oxtail dinner, it was ok. Reasonable price for an oxtail. Although it takes a long time(40 minutes) considering the place is not busy. But my server is good and accommodating. Nice view of English Bay! Might come back again!

Overjoyed to indulge in the gift that is oxtail, this was actually my first stop in Vancouver this trip and unfortunately it wasn’t the warmest welcome.Located right across from English Bay beach, this black-owned beautiful restaurant has a wonderful interior and atmosphere! Not only will your meal be accompanied by a gorgeous view, but the house DJ really sets the tone with some fire mixes. Although, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a single Caribbean song played.I wanted to start with a Spicy Beef Patty with Coco Bread and a Pineapple Caribbean Soda.. However, they were sold out of both the beef patty and pineapple soda. I decided to go with the Chicken Patty and Ting (Grapefruit Soda) instead. I was really happy with the drink, but the the patty was just okay.For entrees I ordered the Oxtail Dinner with extra plantain on the side. The plantain was nice and ripe, but I was sadly, extremely disappointed with the oxtail. Truthfully, nothing about this dish was giving Jamaican. I couldn’t taste any spice, any green seasoning, or any browning! It was really giving beef stew. The coleslaw was pretty dry as well, but the rice and peas was decent.Also considering the restaurant wasn’t very busy, the service was pretty subpar. My experience here was actually rather shocking as according to the google rating and reviews, this place is the BOMB and UNDERRATED.. So maybe my expectations were too high, but boy was I let down.Honestly, Loft Lounge understood half of the assignment by committing to the atmosphere. The music, decor and view sells it self, but their food.. not so much.If you are craving an authentic Jamaican dinner, I probably wouldn’t recommend. BUT if you would like music and drinks by the ocean, this could be a spot you.

We were with 3 people, we sat very nice. The staff was good especially the lady with Rasta long hair she was very attentive and friendly. The food was good tasty. We will certainly eat there more often. Overall a nice , successful evening with friends.

This place is my regular spot. It’s an underrated spot but truly a diamond in the rough during the summer months. It’s at a prime location with an amazing view, friendly servers and good vibe overall. The food is tasty and very reasonable. It’s Afro-Caribbean cuisine. The African menu takes 45mins so still haven’t been able to try it. But my go to is the jerk chicken or the any of the rotis. I recommend the lamb roti.

This place has great music and good vibes. As an island gyal I expected more from the food.The jerk chicken was not all that I had hoped it could be. It was just heat and no flavour. The alcohol was sub par. Long island ice tea needs a new bartender. The menu presented at the table were wrinkled pieces of paper. I had high hopes for Caribbean food but the experience was less than desirable especially the way the drinking glasses were piled up on the table. We thought they were from a previous group but apparently we were expected to drink from these dirty glasses. Lemonade was awful and the daiquiri was just a mixed drink and not authentic daiquiri. Our group did not enjoy the food.

The location and view from The Loft are undeniably beautiful. It’s the service, food & drinks that left me never wanting to return. Especially after a number of additional items ended up on our bill which we had to argue to have removed. Either they are hoping patrons don’t pay attention to their totals or are incredibly disorganized. Regardless, there’s too many other amazing places in the area to give them a second try.

Worst experience in Vancouver, I don’t know if to call it racism or just a really bad service. Stopped by a beer, we asked them where to sit, they were ok with us sitting anywhere, but after that we had to go to the bar and order the drinks because nobody came by. After that took them like 20 min to bring them, it was just a bottle beer so I don’t see how it can take that long, we were enjoying the chat so we just waited calmly and then this guy from the staff came to us asking us if we got water and explaining that the waitresses should have brought glasses of water and then telling us that we should not wait anything from them if we didn’t tell the waitresses that we were there, they did know, they saw us sitting down because we asked where to sit. Honestly we were in such a calm plan that we did nothing but to try and get a beer to enjoy the night and go home, after the guy, not even 20 min later they were rushing us to pay the bill and leave, nobody else in the whole place was asked to leave as they did with us. Never been mistreated to that point. Just leaving this here so if anyone lives the same experience we can prevent others from having a bad one too.
