Simms Home Hardware Building Centre

A shop where you can find a little bit of everything. While not as large as the uptown hardware stores, this one reminds me of the shops back in Asia where you could find any but or bolt you needed, except this place was much cleaner. I was just there for a new fuse, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. I got in and out quickly which was great because I was in a bit of a rush.

Great location. Easily accessible to anyone downtown, and really anyone with a car. The first few times I visited I was surprised there was not an entrance onto the street. Now I am used to going around the side/back to go into the store.The entrance is accessible, and the store is on a single floor.The store has bicycle parking. It is hidden away from the road between a shed and the building and is a bit awkward to get into when motor vehicles are present. There is no curb cut or ramp for your bike to access the parking and it is not protected from the weather.Also, be prepared to have to cross the street for any bulkier items like lumber or masonry, or even wood pellets. The two step process can be a bit of a pain when you have to lock up your vehicle only to unlock and start up again.Other than the missing door and two step dance I have never had a negative experience here. They have any hardware you could ever dream of and are always happy to help.

I really like this store. Always surprised at the odd things I can get at Home Hardware, that I can't find anywhere else. Lots of Canadian made merchandise and the staff is friendly.

The store did not have what I was looking for and offered to call the other store across the river. They had one left and held it for me at the cash there. Great customer service.

Excellent service. I don't think you would find better service at a home improvement store. Staff is knowledgeable in most departments. The store is new with a good amount of parking for the size of store. Very convenient in the downtown core. The selection is not the best but they do have some exclusive products. The paint department is excellent. They will get you exactly what you need and won't try to upsell.

Lots of good here. It's not a mega store but it is a favorite as you get the feeling of an old time hardware store, even in the new building. If you are looking for a BBQ or a smoker, you should visit here before you buy. The paint shop and the contractor relations are especially good.

Have been going to Simms for years. The new location is awesome, beyond words.Easy to find what you need, knowledgeable staff working the contractor desk help in more ways than one and checking out is...pleasurable, for lack of a better word. Very attractive prices.
