Kingmark Currency Exchange Inc. - Burnaby

One of the worse location, bad customer service, I used to go to Richmond one much better than this location. Seems they really don't care to do business. Oh well..end up using the exchange in Metrotown. My suggestion avoid if possible.

In my experience, they were fast and hassle-free. I go there several times a month to exchange my USD paycheck into Canadian dollars. USD/CAD is the best exchange rate in Burnaby/New West. Obviously much better than rates given by big banks (RBC, Scotiabank, TD, etc). They update the rates a couple times throughout the day. Overall, I'm a happy returning customer.[Update:] The last few times I've gone, it's been really difficult to find parking. The underground parking at Crystal Mall is free, but very hard to get into, and it's also very slow moving in there. It takes a really long time to find parking. While there is some street parking in front of the currency exchange, but it's always very difficult to find a spot, because the cars sit there for 30 minutes to an hour each. So it's been really complicated as of late, and I've been using a nearby currency exchange instead, which has slightly better options, and the same exchange rate usually too.[Update:] Found a much better currency exchange right next to Kingmark, called EverForex, which only takes a 0.5% cut on the transaction, where Kingmark tajes 1.5%, and banks take 3%. Don't think I'll be using KingMark again, considering the parking headache and rates.

I was told over the speaker that a mask is required before entering. I told them I didn't have one on me. They said they don't have any for me. So I left and exchanged at Crystal Currency Exchange a few shops down.Advice to the business owner: have a box of disposable masks if you require them to do business.

They take way to much personal information for exchanging a small amount of money. They asked for my drivers license and logged everything including my date of birth which I though was way to excessive for a currency exchange shop but it was to late as the person already punched it into the computer, I feel horrible right now... I will never use this place again and suggest others use somewhere that doesn’t infringe on your personal information rights.. I would give this place zero stars if I could...

For years I have been using their services but not anymore. In mid Apr 2022 I bought some pound sterling for my son's trip to UK. As he didn't finish the money, I brought back the same pound sterling notes to Kingmark on May 4 for conversion to CAD. They refused & said now they only accept plastic notes.Beware when buying pound sterling from them - insist you want plastic notes instead of the paper notes that the Bank of England plans to phase out end of Sep 2022. Kingmark should be ethical to take back their own notes that they sold to customers recently & when the pound sterling notes are still legal tender. Rather go to Vancouver Bullion in Metro who I have also dealt with & they are more professional.

I should have trusted my gut instinct to recount my money. I thought the teller miscounted by $100 but I thought that wouldn’t happen as somebody else counted the money before it was counted out to me. So I let it go and didn’t. I went immediately to deposit my cash into the bank and sure enough I was short $100 US Stupidity on my part but I thought people are honest as I am honest.Nope, I should have been tipped off when I there was a sign posted that said “ensure you have the right amount before you leave”I normally go to Vancouver buillion but it’s far from me. So I took a chance and came here....never again will I come back. They don’t post signs like that as they don’t rip people off!I was there July 23, 2019 at approximately 10:10 am.

They won’t take yen that’s slightly crumpled up; the notes I tried to change back were not mutilated or damaged in anyway that would render them unsaleable for the next clients, and yet VBCE took my yen without any issues.Personally, as long as the notes aren’t ripped up or unusable in the country I’m spending them in, I’m not picky about the condition I receive them in.

I called them this morning to exchange Swiss franks to Canadian dollars there told me the rate I went there a big surprise first there wouldn’t change the amount we talked 1 hour before second there change the exchange rate down with no reason very unprofessional don’t go there

I’ve been doing business here for years. I recently exchanged a few thousand Canadian to US. Went on vacation, came back with leftover US. Came in to exchange back and they wouldn’t take an older 10 bill and a 20 that had a little bit of wear on the corner. They gave me these bills in the first place. They were very rude when I called them out on it. Lost my business for sure!

Tried to provide as much Mexican Peso as they had on hand, which was appreciated. Although they didn't have much in smaller bills which is understandable. Small, clean office that does the trick and is accessible right off Kingsway at Crystal Mall. Rate was decent and comparable to other companies in the area.
