Dr. Sheffield and Dr. Van Boxtel are so caring, personable and only suggest items that need to be done. They’re also super hilarious! The Calgary trail location is a powerhouse of amazing women who care about my pets. They know each one of them by name and personality. This will be my bet of choice forever. Thanks to the team for making hard times consolable, and the good times warm and fuzzy!

Hard to believe this place has any positive reviews. Brought our dog in which had a urinary tract infection which they couldn’t even cure. Just kept wanting to book our dog in after each of their failures acting like a uti is such a rare and difficult disease to cure wanting to drag this on for thousands of dollars. Get them to clip our dogs nails and they cut to the root leaving her with bloody nails and still charged us and to this day we can’t touch her paws let alone clip them. Dragging services on and on as a money grab for basic common services. Furthermore the receptionist was very rude. We take our dog to another vet and uti is cured in a week.Recently, our dog had an issue with her back legs and our regular vet wasn’t able to get her in immediately. Much to our dismay we had no choice but to call this place again. That’s when they told us that they refused to serve us. But gave no reason why and that their manager would call us. That was two weeks ago. And as expected they haven’t called. I wouldn’t trust this place to wash my car.

We started coming here for the care of our Rabbit, under Dr Van Boxtel, and have been coming here ever since. The care of everyone: Dr Van Boxtel, the front desk staff and the techs is absolutely brilliant. I feel closer to the veterinary clinic staff than I do to my own physician, and I wouldn't have it any other way!Our Rabbit had continuous problems with her teeth, and Dr Van Boxtel worked meticulously to help her get better. She often spoke of new research she was following to help with the numerous procedures our Rabbit had to go through. Whenever we had a medical emergency the staff were able to see us right away. It became clear pretty quickly that she came to love Molly as much us!We also have a now six month old kitten that has had a handful of medical problems, and this vet clinic has been amazing. Dr Van Boxtel recently did the second part of his leg amputation and once again went above and beyond for this surgery. She brushed up on new research, consulted with other veterinary professionals and sent some of her staff to specialist clinics for education to ensure that they did the best job possible. Dr Van Boxtel follows up after procedures, even when she isn't working, to see how our little family members are doing and she always recommends what's best for them.We are so lucky to have a vet clinic this compassionate in our life. The staff care, they are available and we wouldn't be where we're at today without them .Thanks so much for everything that you do! I'll forever bring my fluffs here!

My little dog went and got into some chocolate that was forgotten in the living room. These guys were super awesome about seeing him promptly and doing all the procedures necessary to have him barking at literally everything that moves within a few hours. Nice staff, clean office, overall a great experience.

Five stars! Ten out of Ten!From the ease of the online booking feature, to walking in the door, to the follow-up.Recently, my pets and I have switched vet clinics after a couple deal-breaker negative experiences with our long-time previous vet clinic. My 4 month old collie puppy was pestering a painful tail injury and his cone was causing him tremendous stress. Our first day walking into the clinic we were greeted at the front desk of the safely spacious and very clean, modern lobby by a couple of smiling and friendly staff who checked us in and made sure we knew what the next step was.My puppy was weighed and doted on with a couple treats and lots of pets..Next we met with Dr Van Boxtel who came into the room a burst of sunshine, friendliness and professionalism. I didn't feel like my questions and back story was taking up her time and I really felt heard for the first time since my pup started experiencing these excruciating symptoms.Collies and other herding breeds usually have an MDR1 gene that can make even basic medications fatal and Dr Van Boxtel pulled up a chair right there and thoroughly double-checked that the antibiotics and pain killers she wanted to prescribe would be safe for my dog.Next she brought him back to the treatment room where he was given mildly sedating medication to make him comfortable as his poor tail was derided. Hydrotherapy and a secure comfortable bandage was placed and we followed up daily for about a week (And continue to do so every few days now) We've even seen Dr Sheffield a couple times now so that my dog's treatment plan doesn't need to get interrupted by staffing shift changes. (Dr Sheffield is as friendly and professional and thorough in her communication as well!)My dog's tail isn't at risk of amputation anymore and I attribute that directly to the care and communication of the staff at VCA Calgary Trail Animal Hospital.Pain management is just as important to them as it is to me and my dog and my pup happily trots in for his daily treatments that would otherwise be traumatizing and agonizing. He flops down while I pay our invoice each time and the darling staff, go and snuggle him and give him belly rubs and love.Going to the vet sucks. It's expensive. It's stressful. It's not a good time - but having a clinic that truly seems to value you, your time and your pet's comfort just makes the whole experience SO much easier.

We brought our Bull Mastiff here to be neutered. After surgery it was clear he had an infection. We brought him back to see Dr. Olatayo who was dismissive and condescending of our concerns. They stated that it was a simple allergic reaction. Two days later we had to bring our dog to another vet as we knew something was not right. He did have an infection and required antibiotics. The disrespect and disregard we received for our concern was negligent at best. We will not be going to this clinic again.

I have been with this clinic for years. Almost 15 years, since thier origional location. We mostly have dealt with Dr. Sheffield, although on occasion have had to have a visit here and there with other vets at the clinic. Everyone at this clinic is incredible! I only have postivies to say. From the time you enter the clinic and you are greeted front reception to all the vet techs to your time with the vet. Everyone always goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and comfortable. Dr. Sheffield is one of the most incredible people I have met and I trust her 100 percent. Dr. Sheffild always takes such gentle and loving care of my dogs and is so kind, genuine and patient with them and me. I do usually like to ask alot of questions to understand what is going on. She never once had made me feels rushed or that I was asking silly questions. All of my questions are always answered and I have a complete understanding before I leave. Dr.Sheffield has taken such good care of my dogs. I recently had to let go of one my little pups after 14 amazing years with him. Thru the heartbreaking pain of loosing my beloved family member Dr. Sheffield and her team were so compassionate with my Frankie, myself and my family. The experience was on our time, not rushed at all. We were able to say goodbye how we needed to. With the love and support of Dr. Sheffield and her team. All I felt was love. I cant say enough good things about DR. Sheffield and her team. Thank you for being so incredible. I would reccomend her and this clinic to my closest family and everyone else! You will not be disappointed.

I've been going to this clinic since 2017 after my 10 year old chinchilla broke his foot. I'm always terrified to take him to vets because chinchillas aren't a common pet, and they're so fragile. I was expecting to need to have his foot amputated (and honestly didn't think he'd survive). Dr. Van Boxtel managed to surgically repair his broken bones with pins and he healed perfectly. He's now about 4 months away from being 17 and still healthy. Dr. Van Boxtel is very honest, compassionate, and dedicated - easily the best vet I have ever brought a pet to.I wanted to add a review so other chinchilla owners are aware that this is a good clinic to take their little puff balls to. The front staff and techs have always been extremely friendly and kind. Whenever making an appointment, they've never rushed me off the phone and have been very thorough with asking questions.Thank you!
