I was thrilled to come across the Urban Art Collective location! This place showcases incredible artists in fun and affordable ways. I love that you can purchase an original painting or buttons, magnets, or even stickers if you have a smaller budget. Looking forward to all the community art shows! This place is so colourful and fun!

I was very disappointed to find out that this place was not a collective at all.The owner seems nice and I really think her heart is in the right place but I don't think she understands why democracy at work is important or why coopting leftist language for a fun business name is problematic.Here's a simple definition of a collective:Generally speaking, a collective is an organization that is managed without hierarchy. This means that every person has equal decision-making power. Some decisions may be delegated to individual members or sub-committees, butno one has the special, authoritative power usually granted to a manager. The legal structure in worker collectives will specify that all Members are automatically Directors and must accept the responsibilities of Directorship,or that the organization is managed by Member meetings.

Passionate owners and artists run this collective. They genuinely care about community and creating art for the love of art. Highly recommend their shows, events and to hang out at their store/house.
