I’ve been to Coho a number of times over the past seven years and recently went again, and am happy to say that the quality we have grown to appreciate in their food and service is back after what may have been a rough patch last summer. The setting in a charming historical house has been tastefully updated and we were greeted with a thoughtfully crafted menu featuring creative combinations of seasonal NW ingredients. Making reservations is important since seating is limited. I highly recommend this if you’re looking to treat yourself while visiting the islands.

We stayed in the apartment above the Coho Resturant. Cute and clean as well as being a perfect location in Friday Harbor to stay.Although we didn't try the food, the smell from the kitchen was amazing! We stayed ado busy on the Island we missed out...next time.

The good: The food was fantastic. The portions are huge, and were all very well flavored. Only complaint is the the pasta with the bolognese was more al dente than I prefer, but that is personal preference and not a reflection on the chef. The wine pairings were absolutely perfect. The service was great; the server was very attentive.The bad: The tasting menu wasn’t really a tasting menu. It was just a prie fixe - pick one from each category for a set price. A little disappointing thinking that we’d be getting a special separate curated menu. Which leads me to…The ugly: The tasting menu is actively a bad deal. If you order a la carte, you will spend LESS money than getting the tasting menu, unless you order the most expensive option from each category. We opted to let the chef drive the menu to allow him to decide the flow - which was absolutely perfect in the tasting - but if we had just asked his suggestions and ordered a la carte, we would’ve saved about 6%. The wine pairings were also a bad value if you’re just comparing to menu price. The pours were quite small (which was okay) but at a much higher price than just ordering individual glasses.We would absolutely come again, but would absolutely never do the prie fixe, errrr, tasting menu (with or without pairings) because it was actively a worse deal. It is fine to upcharge for a tasting menu, but add something special. This was just menu items at an inflated price. ☹️

The food and entire experience was wonderful - a highlight of our weekend on San Juan. The chef even came out to welcome us and brought our 1.5 year an extra special bowl of the most delicious strawberries she’s (I’ve) ever had. ❤️Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared and plated. We particularly loved the current scallop dish, the roasted veggies with the chicken and all of the fresh deserts. We can’t wait to go back next time we’re in Friday Harbor to try out their new menu since we know it changes with the seasons and local availability of ingredients.

Coho catered our Friday Harbor wedding this weekend, and I can’t tell you how many glowing reviews I got from our guests! Every single dish was superb and delicious and memorable. Highly recommend!

Food was amazing, staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The chefs are doing a fabulous job. 6 course testing menu was absolutely delicious and even the drinks featured local sourced ingredients like lavender and locally distilled gin. Highly recommend.

We’re repeat travelers to the San Juan’s and this is the best fine dining experience available on San Juan Island. They seem to be committed to supporting local agriculture with a fresh seasonal menu featuring regional farmers. Thoughtful vegetarian options were available and the chef was willing to accommodate other dietary needs as they were able after we gave prior notice. All in all a very enjoyable dining experience and a great choice for a special evening.

Our dinner was charred (potatoes and carrots black), and steak well done vs. medium ask. My husband doesn’t like salt or spice and still the food was too bland for him. It’s a bummer then to not even have salt and pepper on the table. We love supporting small restaurants and the farm to table concepts but the food was just not good. We still tipped 20% which made our total for two $300. At that price, I’d want this feedback so that customers return again and again.

Food was just lacking any flavor, we had to ask for salt. Maybe fine for a fast food joint, but unacceptable at this price point.Local ingredients - it was spaghetti noodles
