My dog has benefited from his physical therapy and acupuncture here. The staff is so friendly and responsive. They gave me a ton of useful info. They make my dog feel loved and he is really excited to see them

I cannot thank all of the employees enough at Amherst Small Animal. From Dr. Stein himself, to all of the vet techs, and the rest of the support staff, they are hands down the best veterinary clinic all around. Truly passionate about animal care—I have referred many of my clients (from dog sitting) and all of them agree they provide your pet with exactly what they need. I’m so happy to have found them about 5 years ago; and will never trust another Vet again with all of my dogs and cats needs!!! They are the absolute best!!!

Dr. Stein and his staff are so kind and caring. They are truly invested in the wellbeing of your dog. You never feel like just a number to them, they take their time and explain everything you need to know about your dogs health. I’m so happy I found them after an awful experience at another vet practice

Calm and extremely knowledgeable. A small tight knit team that deals with every area of your pet care efficiently, yet personably. Dr Stein is the only vet so he knows all about your pets, unlike our previous large practice where we never saw the same vet twice. His veterinary knowledge is immense but he explains everything so that you understand all about your pet’s health. It’s hard to explain how you get the feeling that they all love animals there.

A number of years ago I brought my cat to Dr. Stein. My cat was always scared of carriers, cars and the vet office. She was so scared that they had to wrap her in a towel to examine her. After all was done Dr. Stein told me in no uncertain terms to never bring her back.

After extensive research and weighing of the pros and cons of surgery, my daughter decided the best option for her 1yo puppy was to have ovarian sparing surgery. My daughter, an MSW at a Rochester hospital was not going to settle for anything but the best for her puppy. Again after more exhaustive research she decided upon Dr. Stein at Amhurst Small Animal Hospital because of his awards and accomplishments in the area of advanced anesthesia and pain management. I accompanied them on the day of surgery, to enter an unassuming brick building. Looks can be deceiving. Once inside and after meeting staff and sitting down with Dr Stein, it was obvious this was a top of the line Veterinary Practice. And I don’t make that statement lightly as I have been both a nurse practitioner and chief nursing officer in my career and know high quality staff and expert medical care when I see it. The staff were kind and welcoming, attentive to questions & concerns and treated my daughters puppy as if she were a little celebrity. Dr Stein’s passion and expertise in the area of pet anesthesia and pain management were clearly obvious as he explained the surgery. He had a caring, relaxed, and competent bedside manner, answering all questions and instilling confidence in my daughter that she had made the right decision for her puppy. And she was right- the surgery was successful and amazingly by the next day with Dr. Steins pain management plan in place, her puppy was acting like she had never had surgery at all, let alone major surgery. There is still has a two week recovery period ahead but with clear concise aftercare instructions, and regularly scheduled contact with Dr Stein regarding her progress, I’m confident our celebrity puppy will end up fully healed with a fully functional hormone system in place.I wholeheartedly recommend Dr Stein and his staff at Amhurst Small Animal Hospital- they deserve every positive accolade I could possibly give.

This is the best vet in the area. I had consulted another veterinarian at my church and he said they all call Dr. Stein for advise. The staff are all caring and friendly. From the wonderful and efficient front desk ladies, techs, and doctor.I have been going here for many years now and have had happy healthy pets which have all lived into old age.

We just moved to Buffalo and have two dogs. I love the idea of happy visits so our dogs look forward to going to the vet. Every employee is amazing here. I was on crutches when we had an appointment and the staff helped me get my fur baby out to the car safely. The vet took the time to thoroughly explain what was going on. It means a lot to find someone I trust with my dogs.
