I have only positive things to say about Kayla and Erin. I wish we had them for our first baby! Loved the workshop, and we learned a ton even as second-timers. The hands-on part was informative and fun! Erin attended our birth. She kept me hydrated, suggested new positions, and offered encouraging words at just the right times. If she was tired after being with us all night, it definitely didn't show. Erin also took notes on the labour & delivery, which helped me debrief afterwards. Both Erin and Kayla checked in with me after baby - double the support! If you are looking for two very caring and genuine people to support you, I 100% recommend Transition Doulas.

We hired Kayla and Erin for our June 2022 due date. They worked great as a team from the prenatal classes all the way to the postnatal visits, being on the same page the entire journey. The prenatal classes were better than anticipated, every person there was fully interested and committed to learning and opening up. I mention this as I attribute the high involvement with the participants and what we got out of the class to it being a paid class vs. perhaps something free with AHS. The overarching concepts and metaphors made the information more relatable. We both felt that the prenatal classes were useful and happy we took them. For the L&D Kayla was present. She was wonderful in so many ways. Kayla brought things to help with stress and pain relief, was a wealth of information, and facilitated progression by manipulating body position. She worked well with our midwife, who said she had never seen anyone be assisted into positions to progress like that - in a good way. Kayla was present the entire time and gave my husband a break to eat, nap and come back recharged. But the most valuable part of having Kayla present was how proactive she was. Being a first time mom, I did not know what I needed. Kayla was on top of everything and knew what to do before I even asked for help. We could not imagine having our first child without their assistance, with all the support we could actually enjoy the experience.

When I was looking to hire a doula for labour, I had wanted someone who was going to be on my team. Advocate for me. Hold my hand, my hair back and remind me I could do this. I wanted to feel like my best friend was right there with me, knowing all my needs and wishes without having to speak them. With Kayla at my birth, I got that and more.Kayla and Erin’s knowledge, experience and compassionate presence are clearly felt. The components of their care I didn’t anticipate was prenatal and postpartum. Being able to reach out through email with any questions, thoughts, uncertainties or even a loving soundboard. Their responses have always been prompt and thorough. My husband and I also participated in the birthing workshop they offered. Being a second time mum, I wasn’t planning on taking it initially, though was so glad I had. I appreciated being around other pregnant bodies, learning evidence based info and the physical practices. Most of all, it was so enjoyable to spend an entire day with my husband. Life can be so busy. It was a very intimate, fun day for us as a couple. I seen my husband gain a lot of confidence in his role as my birth partner. It really empowered him to show up for me in the way I needed it most.Transition doula’s were 1000% worth the investment.

My husband and I attended Erin and Kayla’s Childbirth Education class and it was probably the best thing we could’ve done to help us become informed and prepared for some of the things to expect during labour. They were welcoming and knowledgeable, and very community centred. Would recommended their class to anyone :)

I can not recommend the Transition Doula team highly enough! Erin and Kayla provided full, unbiased information and support every step of the way leading up to the birth and into the post partum period. As a Type A, overthinking, first time Mom by surprise (finding out at 20 weeks), I am thankful for having their services recommended. Thanks to the Transition Doula team, I was confident and felt empowered, making informative descions as I navigated and embraced welcoming motherhood, vaunerability and all. Their support was not just focused on me - their approach includes partner support, which my boyfriend was extremely thankful for as well. The Birth Prep Workshop was raw and real with hands on engagement and group involvement - fun and informative. The unwavering personalized support, unbiased information and personable approach truly made it feel like I had birthing besties by my side through it all!I utilized the Huntress Package and would definitely recommend the package, if minimally the Birth Prep Workshop.

I was fortunate enough to have Kayla and Erin as my doulas. Kayla attended the home birth of my son in October. She was so supportive, kind and I’m really grateful that she was there. She helped make everything go more smoothly during my super fast labour and was wonderful with my older daughter and helped make her feel included. Kayla also took some amazing photos and videos of the birth and I’m so happy to have those to remember the special day. The birth class that Kayla and Erin offer was very informative and interactive, I learned some new things even as a second time mama. I also really appreciated being able to chat with Kayla or Erin during postpartum, they offer lots of helpful info and breastfeeding, mental health and newborn care.I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a doula to work with Kayla and Erin at Transition doula’s.

I had our first baby beginning of September 2022, so this review a little late lol. But Kayla and Erin were AMAZING. I slightly nervous, not really knowing what was going to happen and all the changes that were already starting. Any questions I had were answered within 24 hrs with advice and tips for getting through. They offer classes for parents which I found extremely helpful and so did my partner. When everything was starting it was about 2 in the morning and I was heading in to the city. Kayla stayed in contact the whole time we were driving keeping updated and answering any questions we had. She texted us until Erin showed up and Erin was such a rock for me. And for my partner. I felt very comfortable having her there as my advocate if I needed one and that I was in good hands. The after care was also very helpful. I would recommend these two to anybody and have done so that were looking for a doula

My husband and I are expecting our first baby in June. We took the Transition doula birth prep class and I’m so grateful we did! We feel so much more prepared, empowered, and informed about birth and what to expect. We loved the hands on practice and setting of the class. Highly recommend taking this course as part of your birth preparation.

We chose Kayla & Erin as our doulas, and Kayla attended our birth as they work on a rotating on-call schedule. I would definitely recommend these ladies for anyone but especially first-time parents! This was my first pregnancy and I wanted extra support during my labour&birth and someone I could go to with questions during antepartum and postpartum. I got a one on one session with Erin to discuss my birth preferences and ask questions about the labour and birth process. They sent a ton of resources about everything from prenatal checkups, breastfeeding, pumping, labour positions, sleep tips, and tons more. Their prenatal birth workshop is also included in the package and was super informative and was a nice way to meet other families at the same life stage as us! It was a very relaxed environment and eased a lot of our worries about going into labour and it was fun! I always got a quick response when I emailed with any questions and if there was any pressing matters they were always just a text or call away. When my contractions started at midnight , Kayla talked me through everything and was so supportive of my decisions throughout the process. I remember saying to Kayla something along the lines of “if I get an epidural will that defeat the purpose of your job here?” And she reassured me that she can still very much support me with an epidural! And she did, she helped me move into different positions, use the peanut ball, she created a super zen environment with flameless candles, lavender essential oils, music, and she had heating pads which was so comforting. She also massaged my back and hips. Since i had the epidural I was not as mobile but she had tools to help me push as effectively as possible! She also took some absolutely amazing pictures and videos that I will literally treasure forever as well as she made a timeline of all the events that happened during my labour and birth. She has been in contact since my son was born and helped me with breastfeeding as that was something I struggled with alot in the beginning. She continues to check up on us and I am so glad we chose these ladies to support us during this new and exciting time in our lives!!
