Speak Freely Therapy Services
I enlisted their private services for help regarding my then 2.5 year old during the height of COVID. We started seeing them weekly since June 2021. Like many industries, they were going through changes. As much as they’re polite and friendly, it isn’t enough to compensate for their lack of accountability and professionalism as SLPs and CDAs. We stopped seeing them from early January 2022. We as a familycouldn’t work a new schedule with them. Especially since we have never received the results of the assessment report and their findings. Despite paying for the SLP assessment fee and ongoing weekly CDA sessions in a timely manner. Once an invoice was sent to me, I paid immediately. Not once, was my child recommended for occupational therapy or a hearing test. At one of our in person sessions, the main SLP has verbally confirmed to my husband that they haven’t even completed my child’s assessment. On May 4,2022 they recently sent an email asking for funds regarding our very last session in early January 2022. I acknowledged the invoice and requested the outstanding assessment to be sent first. RADIO SILENCE from their end. But I distinctly remembered I paid in person. I sent another response on May 6, 2022 with proof from my bank that it was indeed paid on the day of our last January session. I still reminded them of the outstanding assessment that we are owed. Again, RADIO SILENCE. I cannot reiterate the lack of accountability and professionalism from this private speech service. Being friendly is wonderful. BUT if you’re paying for a service and it’s been 7 months of ongoing weekly sessions, with NO assessment report given regarding the status of your child’s speech & language difficulties. Especially when it’s in their own branded booklets regarding the assessment. You’re wasting your own time and money especially when these services are to help your child. Where is the focus?! How are the SLPs and CDAs tracking your child’s progress? How do we know what’s working and what’s not? If there’s NO assessment completed, how do we know the baseline of a child’s growth?! How can we as parents help more at home to further their child’s progress with each session?! A standard needs to be upheld especially as SLPs and CDAs working with children. We had no clue what was going on with our then 2.5 year old. I chose to do early intervention services to provide every opportunity for my child to succeed and improve as per their development. I can’t do that, with paying for their services and have no assessment as a baseline to see if my child is improving or requires a different learning approach or early intervention service such as occupational therapy, etc. Thankfully, I continued my own research and my child has significantly improved. I do daily learning through play activities, AAC, zones of regulation and heavy work geared for toddlers. As parents, we want to see our child(ren) succeed in their own ways. We supply the tools for their success. If you’re struggling where to go for early interventions, keep doing your accredited research and ask for current & up to date recommendations and reviews when paying for private services. I found their services through a peer recommendation (Hence why I reinforce asking how recent is the recommendation?). Don’t settle for lack of professionalism and poor accountability like we did! especially when that company fully acknowledges (verbally) they didn’t even finish the assessment that’s needed for your child and gives you radio silence when asking for what you actually paid for. The assessment should’ve been completed in a timely manner in June 2021 and given to us, so we can continue to work with their services. Sadly, this didn’t happen. I’m still waiting for an email response from them. Unfortunately based on the experience, I would not recommend speak freely speech services.
