Happy Dudes Surf Emporium

Keith was very accommodating and friendly when I showed up near closing looking for a longboard fin. He was knowledgeable and helpful and his shop is as authentic as it gets. I took some awesome pictures of the murals, art and school bus on his property. Highly recommended for anyone looking for some surf gear or a board rental in Lawrencetown.

Horrible customer service. The employees seemed extreamly uninterested in our business. After finding this place online went to the shop and asked about lessons and were told all the information we needed was on the website. Went to get another employee to help us and commented that we had Ontario lisence plates despite two people in our car living in Nova Scotia for the last four years. The second employee told us we were unable to rent or receive lessons because they are too busy on weekends and we should come back on a week day..... it was a Thursday. Not happy dudes!

What an unbelievably friendly surf and rental shop. Loved the Martinique location, loved the Lawrence town location more. Keith really knows his technical stuff as well as all the great local spots. Karrie is an absolute sweet heart, very informed, and often fed us carrots or berries foraged from their garden. Even their dog butters is amazing. Wouldn’t go to any other surf rental spot.

Always a happy day out on the waves after grabbing our gear from happy dudes. Their hours beat all others and make for an easy-going experience. It’s a pretty wicked shop! Bonus, there is an awesome dog.

Easy to find on your way to Lawrencetown beach, with the colorful truck full of surf equipment parked along the road . We have our own boards and never used theirs but we liked the idea of rental 'made easy' close to the surf spot.

The owners are so friendly and answered every question I had over the phone! My friends and I went in 2 different cars to go camping. The owner remembered speaking to both of us and graciously allowed us to pay seperate but have everything delivered together to the campsite. Only 10 bucks extra to keep the kayak over night AND only 20 dollars to deliver to porters lake. 100% going back next year to rent. Simply great people interested in the sport and wanting people to enjoy themselves.

Hands down the best kayaking experience in Nova Scotia. The Happy Dudes ship is teeming with surf boards, SUPs, and kayaks avaifor rent. $30 gets you a kayak, skirt, and PFD for as long as you like! My mom and I found them on a top ten kayaking experience list on Tourusm Nova Scotia. The owner is so friendly and accommodating-once he gets your gear together, he loads everything (including the kayaks) into the back of his truck and you follow him to the private boat launch. Also, you can choose to kayak in the ocean or the salt lake. We chose the lake and it was absolutely stunning. The bottom of the lake is full of oysters and in shallow areas you can pluck them up and bring them home for dinner! When you’re finished your paddle, you simply call Happy Dudes and along he comes to bring your gear back to his shop. If you weren’t convinced yet, Happy Dudes is also home to the world’s sweetest doggo, Butters.

Known these folks for a decade and a half, and have always enjoyed making trips out to their shop for rentals and gear. Everything you need for a good day of surfing, including valuable knowledge of the local wave conditions, and advice to get you out and surfing.

Fantastic business run by good people. We drove out from Ontario and wanted to try surfing for the first time and were given great service, fair prices and provided with great quality equipment (suits boots and board). Overall would highly recommend this place.Thanks Happy Dudes Surf!Just remember - always check the beach conditions before you plan to head out surfing. And another thing - surfing and this place is open all year even the winter.

Can't thank Happy Dudes enough for all the amazing surfing memories made over this last summer and fall! We rented out of the old Martinique location before it closed and then we started frequenting the Lawrencetown spot. They gave us direction as to where the waves were looking good each day, let us know what others were saying, and were always flexible with us- allowing a bit more time if we wanted to head out to Martinique, or on those days when 'one more wave' turns into many. The gear we rented was in great shape, and wetsuits were always appropriate for the season. Keith, Karrie and Butters (the golden retriever) always made us feel welcome with that East Coast feel. Thanks again guys!!
