It's perfect for a family to step back and have a nice relaxed vacation. The cabins are a little rustic and not modern but I wasn't going to sit inside all the time. The cabin was clean and fairly well equipped. It's very close to the Cabot trail and is well placed for day trips. The cell phone signal was a little spotty and wifi only worked near the office but with the sunset view it was worth it. For those that spend time near urban centres, the night sky is totally amazing.I think the only thing I would like to see improved would be the exterior play structures for the kids. Add in a beach volleyball and a few horseshoe pits and it would be perfect.Definitely going back again.

Desperately needs updating and repair. To name a few problems: missing screens on windows, green carpet which is mostly turned orange, lots of rust in tub/ shower, worn mattress, single bureau with drawers that don't work, very few dishes and almost no silverware. Bottoms of exterior cabin boards are rotted off. Positives: great location, washers and dryers available 24 hours a day, relatively inexpensive.

What a great place with an amazing view. Yes the rooms are a little outdated (definitely could use the carpet replaced with flooring) but everything else is exactly as described. Rustic. This is the perfect place for a family looking for a spot near the beach/ocean. The people running it are so cheerful and friendly and amazingly helpful. True Cape Breton hospitality!

Friendly staff, comfortable if shabby cottage, great location, dog friendly, lovely beach across the road, scrupulously clean even if the carpets are stained, a great spot to relax between daytime adventures. It is rustic, so don't expect much and you won't be disappointed! Leave the tablets, phones and laptops at home unless you have stuff downloaded because there is very little cell reception in the area. Go analogue with books, games, and the outdoors!!We will definitely be back bringing comfortable camp chairs to sit outside, camp lanterns and candles to avoid the overhead lighting, and a corkscrew!

Lovely location and very scenic. Front cottages are a nicer view to the ocean otherwise you see the backs of the other cottages. Really just a preference. All one bedrooms on one side all 2 bedrooms on the other side. Cottages were clean but very outdated. When they say rustic this means a tiny square TV with fuzzy channels only(but you're on vacation so who needs it?)Outdated carpet and curtains and mattresses definitely need updating and would be well worth it because this is a hidden gem of a place. The beach is just across the road and bonfires are welcome! Great cliff to climb for views which you can also access by vehicle if someone isn't able to make the trak by foot. Amazing sunsets and lots of nearby places I'm both directions for food etc. Kitchen only have a stove top and microwave no oven and the bare minimum for dishes etc. 1 pot and pan and set for 4 of dishes and glasses. Dish soap and dish cloth and towel provided. No AC but great breeze when you leave the windows open. My family and I have stayed here numerous times over the years and the staff I'd wonderful and check in and out os flawless. Prices are great for a 2 bdrm! Closes after Thanksgiving and always need some advance notice for booking.

We had a wonderful time here! The accommodations are sufficient and the view and beach are gorgeous! The cabins are certainly outdated and in need of some TLC, but the price reflects this. They have towels and all the basics for the kitchen. Be aware there is no BBQ or oven, but there are three stove top burners. Good size fridge and freezer. If you're planning on having someone sleep on the futon or pull out couch, you might want to bring some sheets. We rented four cabins and there were minor issues, but nothing major. ex. sink plug broken, broken light, couch didn't pull out, etc. Again, the cabins are outdated, but have a nostalgic feel to them.We enjoyed walking across the street to the beach, going to a local restaurant, and we played lots of games on the field in front of the cabins. The younger children enjoyed the two small play areas as well.We certainly plan to book again next season. Thank you!

This was my first time staying in Whale Cove. Every summer we try to book it and it is always full but we lucked out this year and I am so glad we did. Linda, the lady at the front desk, was super friendly, helpful and so kind. I can't say enough about her. I not only made a new friend in her but we loved it so much we are going back in 2 weeks. We are also hoping to go back next summer. She made a difference in our stay for sure. We originally had a spot booked for Cheticamp but because of her hospitality and the wonderful time we had in the 4 days we were there, we are coming back in 2 weeks time. Even with no air conditioner or bbq we had a blast and with the breeze from the screened porch we didn't need an air conditioner. One of the nights we stayed it rained but it was nice to still sit outside in the screened in porch. We kept dry and didn't get bitten by the mosquitoes. There was lots to do. Cheticamp is only a 30 minute drive, Margaree Harbor is just up the road, where the water was a bit warmer or if you just prefer the quiet it is perfect. There was even one night where someone had fireworks on the beach which we could see and hear from our cabin. The cabins are outdated yes but the bathroom was clean, bed was clean and tidy and it had everything you need. I can't wait to go back!

It is definitely starting to get run down. The view out of our big kitchen/living room window was beautful but the window was always steamed (broken seal?). A lot of the cottages need to be painted and updated inside and I could never get a Wi-Fi signal. However if you just want a place to sleep it was clean. The beach across the street was very nice and the staff was very friendly.

Great place to stay. It's advertised as a rustic cabin, so I don't know why some people were expecting wifi. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable. We arrived late and they had our place unlocked, which was really nice. The ocean is right across the street, and the view would be perfect from any cabin location.
