Kingsbridge Retirement Community
My Mom was experiencing some health issues and, as a family, thought it best that she move from her apartment to a retirement facility. She did a bit of kicking and screaming, but in the end, decided to take a look into what was available to her in Kingston. The minute we walked in the door at Kingsbridge, we felt like we were in a five-star hotel. We were greeted by extremely friendly personnel who only wanted to provide my Mom with the best care, service and amenities. We toured a few rooms, as well as one of the model suites, did some measuring, drew up some floor plans and then let my Mom make the final decision. Enter phase two of kicking and screaming!A few weeks later, Mom called me up and said she was ready to make the change. We signed her up right away and were able to get the room that she preferred and she was ready to go within a two-week time period. Now that she's been a resident for a few months, she has made new friends and joins in some of the activities. She is not fully integrated yet, but on her way. She raves about the food!!! Seriously, she RAVES about the food!!! She enjoys a glass of wine or two in the lounge with other residents, family and visitors and is waiting to be able to enjoy some outdoor activities when the weather permits.I have Kingsbridge on Facebook and am delighted to see postings of all the fun activities and special events held for the residents. Recently, I teared up watching a video of a resident whose wish was to visit with her developmentally challenged daughter who lives out of town. The staff put together a wonderful surprise for her as a part of their Living List" by granting her wish.It is such a blessing knowing that Mom is in a wonderful

As an employee of Kingsbridge, I spend a lot of my time here. It’s become my second home. The facility is beautiful, the staff are kind and caring and the residents are exceptional. There is a really great feeling to the place when you walk through the front doors. Not only are you in a beautiful brand new building but the staff are always smiling and welcoming. The activities and programs have been developed to keep our residents engaged, happy, healthy and entertained. There are so many activities to choose from. The nursing team located on our assisted living floor is wonderful. They are warm, welcoming and caring. The attention and dedication they have for our residents is exceptional. Our nurses really put a lot of love into everything they do and are always going above and beyond for our residents. To summarize Kingsbridge is a place where you will be greeted with a bright smile, enjoy delicious meals, make wonderful friends and share lots of laughs. I recommend contacting Kingsbridge about a tour.

My mom has recently moved to Kingsbridge and we can’t say enough about how helpful, kind and empathetic the staff have been. They were always patient with all my multiple questions and to help Mom feel welcomed and cared for. You can feel the atmosphere as you walk in the door.

ABOVE & BEYOND. Approaching 2 years of living at Kingsbridge, we’re so grateful for the care, support, and friendship that my mother has received from the community of staff & residents. And although my mother struggles with short-term memory loss, she has been able to live happily and independently here and has not only thrived since moving here in summer 2021, but she has improved beyond expectation.Top to bottom, there is a strong sense of community among the residents and the staff that is unparalleled. (The two former retirement residences in the Kingston area where my mother lived for the previous three years left her lonely and largely inactive). All the staff at Kingsbridge are kind and compassionate, without exception. That is rare to find, and not surprisingly led by an executive management team of strong, brilliant, inspiring women that care about the small details of daily living and the big picture of progressive change. There’s always a sense that there are caring eyes on everyone. The reason for moving here is the full spectrum of services, that can be adjusted according to my mother’s needs, from intermittent assistance to full assistance when needed (you have to see the place for yourself), priced affordably and competitively. And what we found was a strong sense of connection. Although my mother can’t play bocce ball or knit or plant flowers anymore, she certainly enjoys watching and participating in the small clubs of resident activities where there’s just the right balance between programmed events and free time (my mother has even started swimming and aqua-fit exercises, after a five-year hiatus)After nearly two years at Kingsbridge, the community support in rebuilding her daily pattern of independent life, and rhythm of daily activities, have helped rebuild her confidence and physical capacity. These are key elements for her neuro-cognitive strength, emotional resilience, and powers of intellectual retrieval. Together with services of in-house bathing assistance and medication administration, I’ve noticed how not only her confidence is regained but how her physical mobility, dexterity, and strength is growing again, along with her will and desire to participate in group activities and fitness.Taken together, Sandy’s original tour of the luscious potting room, Harjo’s kind mobilization of medication in coordination with Harbinder, Fran’s cheerful spirit at breakfast, Anne’s understanding of key details at meal times, Gloria’s table mates, Sheri’s affirming initiative and smiling eyes at the front desk, Ashlee’s exhuberant open-arms engagement, Trevor’s swift help with moving furniture or adjusting a TV remote, and Jaime-Lynne’s generous personality are just a few small (but vitally important) examples of how residents and staff bring a critical sense of calm, comfort, and care for my mother. Details make all the difference in the world (especially at a time, almost everywhere, where the act and practice of caring, especially when memory is involved, seems to be both undervalued, under-recognized, and in short supply).Gloria’s feels ‘seen’. As a result, I can see how her independence, her dignity, and her sense of empowerment are upheld and maintained to live her life. At 88 years old, this is no small thing. You can imagine how that makes me feel since I live across the border, almost 600 miles away on the East Coast, I am reassured by that infrastructure of care and community.Similar to her original arrival at Kingsbridge in 2021, I can’t stress enough how significant the sense of community and personal affirmation that emanates from Kingsbridge is. You can’t put a price on that, nor can you find it anywhere else. That community feeling is distinctive and definitely a signature of the powerfully feminine approach and safe space you’ve collectively cultivated and that you are leading. As my mother rebuilds and regains her confidence, we both remain extremely grateful to the generous and supportive community—a family really—that Kingsbridge has come to represent.

I (along with my sisters Susan and Wendy) wanted to take a moment on to express our appreciation for all the great care and services you and your team provide for our parents. It has been 1 year since they joined the Kingsbridge Retirement Community. We feel the physical and social attention given to our parents has extended their lives. One year ago, they were both quite ill, we did not know how the year would evolve. Looking at 2020 there have been some challenges worldwide but the truth is mom and dad are healthier now than 1 year ago. We feel this is largely due to the fact that they live in a supportive, secure and stress-free environment. My background is in Long Term Care, I know what goes behind all the tasty meals, the variety of events and so on. I can honestly say, with no hesitation, that Kingsbridge is a 5-star living center that considers the person first. You and your team's attention to the wellness of each resident during this COVID crisis is also remarkable. It is hard for my sisters and I not to visit mom and dad, but we know they are in a controlled space that is very attentive to the world around them. Please express our appreciation to the whole team. Words seem inadequate, however, please know that our appreciation comes for a deep place in our hearts. We are blessed to have these 2 people in our lives for this long and we a grateful they are living at Kingsbridge.Sincerely,Debbie Emmerson
