It’s where my money guy lives…

I worked there for over 6 years and my coworker for 15 years. They temporary laid us off in March 2020 cause of Covid and rented the space out to someone else in January 2021 without telling us we were laid off. My coworker informed me that when she went to pick up her belongings last week and the locks were changed. I asked my employer what is going on and they said that they decided last month" to laid us off even though the place been rented out since January. I asked them about my personal belongings that were still at the placed I worked and they said that they would replace anything that was thrown away. Now they are back peddling and refusing to reimburse me. They said they spoke to the people who rented the space and that there was nothing there but a dirty white pair of sneakers. Very unprofessional."
