Paul Shaw Automotive was recommended to me by a protégé of Paul's who I know as a wizard with cars and bikes and ATVs, so I gave them a call.My first impression was talking to a woman on the phone who was friendly and attentive, and who listened to my story in a way that inspired trust. Off to a good start!The shop itself is two bays off the main road that looks like a place built up over the years within a family, and there's a wrench on display in a place of pride with the names of the father and son on either end. Check two!My problem was a broken air conditioner that I had diagnosed at the big dealership in town, who had quoted me $1600 for parts and labor. So, I called up a local junkyard, had them ship the (used) part in question for 90% off, and I swear before I had time to get home and have lunch they were calling me up to say the whole job was done and fixed for a song.And I guess after all it was a straight forward installation of a replacement part -not a huge job - but I actually couldn't believe how fairly they charged me and how pleased I was with the result. Amazing! 10/10! Very happy!

Taking advantage of women.I had 2 vehicles in there at the same time. A jeep and a camper van. Camper van had power drain issues. John guaranteed" that it was the battery. I didn't think it was but I let him change the battery on that guarantee. It wasn't and he did not stick with his guarantee. I was out 700.00 on that job and problem wasn't fixed. I also replaced the engine in my jeep. Was told after it was replaced to keep and eye on the engine light and let him know. It did come on within 30 kms. When I told him about it he wanted to charge me several hundred to fix it. He was also caught in lies several times to cover himself. I felt it was a ...taking advantage of a woman issue. I'll never go back and will tell everyone I know not to use them. I've heard that these are new owners so previous customers of this place need to be very leery. No excuse for this type of behavior."

I was very pleased with the service I received from Paul and his staff. Thé issue with my car was identified, communicated and repaired in a timely manner and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this business and will be back in the future.

Huge thank you to Paul and his team for getting us back on the road in quick time and taking away the stress of car troubles so far away from home. We were on a two week road trip from Toronto covering the Maritimes and was having car troubles on a Sunday evening in Halifax. Paul slotted me in to a spot on Monday, diagnosed the issue, put the fixes in place and got us back on the road at an extremely reasonable price going above and beyond keeping an open line of communication while I was enjoying the Halifax waterfront on my vacation. We’ve been going to Paul Shaw Automotive for 2yrs. This time it was for oil change and a full break job. Vehicle was a little late to be completed but not due to their fault, parts were a day late. They treat you as there own family and that’s why we no longer go the the dealer for maintenance. Prices were well below what we expected to pay. They will shop around for the best qualities and prices for your parts.
