Wow is all I can say about Igloo from the staff to the fishing, I'm a yearly visitor and have been over satisfied, this year was 1st week July and the dry fly fishing was superb in Burton's and was just starting to take off in the main lake. Numerous fish up to 8 plus lbs, I had a good friend who is a beginner fly fisherman and he did tremendous, we had 3 or 4 times we had doubles...Rosey you are the tops....I can't wait for 2020.....Maybe this September??

I'm headed up to Igloo in a few weeks (8th trip). I happened to see the reviews and would agree with most. Fishing being what it is sometimes isn't as good as the week before or next week. But I can say I've never had a bad trip tp Igloo. Big fish, great food and staff along with a beautiful lodge. Can't wait to get there.

I accompanied 'chnclr' on the last 5 of his 6 trips to Igloo Lake Lodge, and I have nothing but praise for the fishing, the competent guides, and the excellent meals. The proof of this is the fact that we return annually! Every year I've been fortunate enough to surpass my previous size record, due I'm convinced, to the success of the 'catch and release' practice at this stellar location. This year my largest trout approached (or surpassed) 10 lbs; so I'll probably never surpass that!! Kudos to a well-run fishing lodge, with exceptional guides who strive to put you over fish at every opportunity, and a superb cook. (You won't lose weight while your at Igloo Lake Lodge!!)

If you're looking for a fishing trip that will not disappoint, Igloo Lake Lodge should be your first choice.!! It's truly an amazing experience!!!You arrive in Goose Bay, Labrador and are flown directly into the lodge to begin fishing, and yes your lines are tight the the day you arrive! You are assigned a fully experienced guide equip with the knowledge of the lakes, rivers and topography of the land, to bring you to the sweet spots" to begin catching the most amazingly large and active fish. 4-6 lb brookies are common and if you're lucky you'll catch the 8 pounders! The fun in the fishing is second to none here! The colours and amazing size of the fish will excite you!! Oh the stories you'll have when you get back to the lodge and long after you arrive back home!!Set deep in the heart of the wildness in Labrador

I just got back from a fish filled week filming and episode of the New Fly Fisher television show at Igloo Lake Lodge in Labrador. The brook trout fishing was nothing short of epic. We hit the green drake mayfly hatch perfectly so 98% of my brook trout were taken on dry flies. My average fish was in the five pound area with a few monsters that were in the seven pound area. The service was second to none and the food was fabulous. Great fishing, great service, great food and best of all great people. I highly recommend them. Here’s the thing about Igloo Lake Lodge; not only is it some of the, if not THE best brook trout fishing on the planet, but it’s also the heart of a continuing fight for the conservation of the species. It was one of the first lodges in Labrador to adopt a strict catch and release policy nearly 20 years ago, even in the face of intense scrutiny from the public. The Burtons, and now Gillingham’s have made a commitment to ensure that this incredible land and fishery remains fruitful in perpetuity for all to enjoy, and we can tell you from first hand experience that it’s working. By all accounts the fish are getting bigger and more plentiful, and the mantra of the owners, guides, and staff is this: the fish come first, and why shouldn’t they? The Eagle River plateau boasts the greatest brook trout fisheries on planet earth, and they deserve the utmost respect and reverence. Being able to fish these areas, while spending your down time in beautifully constructed modern dwellings with hot showers, high speed internet, and gourmet meals is nothing short of a privilege. Not a single fly leaves an anglers box without a close inspection by the knowledgeable guides to ensure the barb has been properly removed. Fish are landed quickly, handled carefully for photos, and released expertly. Between fly outs for salmon and char, literally the best dry fly fishing for big brookies imaginable, and an incredibly fruitful stretch of river filled with brook trout that would make anyone drool, there is never a dull day at camp. And if you ever get board of fishing for trophy trout, you can always spend a day working over some of the best pike water in North America.Above all else, the people there care. They care about you, the land, fish, and the experience they can provide. You’re only a stranger at Igloo but once, and we certainly can’t wait to get back there.—Chase and Aimee of Tight Loops

I had an amazing experience at Igloo Lake Lodge in Labrador, Canada. I caught lots of big Brook Trout including my personal best, a 6.5 lb beauty. There many bigger in there too. In addition to the lakes, there is an amazing river right behind the lodge. It was on fire producing many 1-4 lb Brook Trout that love to rise to dry flies. The guides are professional and share their local knowledge to put you on fish. The staff is accommodating with any requests. The food is equally memorable and there’s always something warm and delicious waiting for you on each return to the lodge. The Lodge itself is stunningly beautiful and a wonderful place to relax, reflect on the day and look forward to the next. I have been fortunate to travel and fish all over the world and my week at Igloo Lake Lodge was easily one of my best fishing experiences of my life.

I've had the privilege of fishing with the Burton family and now the new owners the Gillingham family at Igloo Lake Lodge for about 20 years now. And without exception, the brookies, guides, food and accommodations were never disappointing - rather it was quite exceptional! Sure you have to experience some mosquitoes in the Big Land - that's why the trout are so HUGE! Come prepared for a week of fabulous brook trout fishing and to boot now they offer Atlantic salmon fishing at Owl Brook, a tributary to the world famous Eagle River! If you're a newbie" to fly fishing or if you've only caught small brookies before

I have been to Igloo Lake Lodge 6 times in the last 6 years and plan on making a 9 day trip in 2020.. Each trip's experience surpasses the previous. This year I caught my personal best ( a 9.5 pound brookie) . My experience is that the guides try very hard to put you over fish. The trails can be uneasy to walk for us overweight and older people. To go to Burton Pond we always make arrangements for the pilot to fly us in . It is about a 4-5 minute flight but in my estimation well worth the cost !!Over the years I have caught several trout over 8 1/2 pounds in Igloo Lake itself and Burton Pond trout are getting bigger each year. This year I personally caught 6 over 5 pounds and the largest was approaching 8 pounds . One year my brother and I caught close to 40 each ranging between 4 and 7 pounds. Great action when the green drakes are hatching !!I would not hesitate to suggest that a trip there will provide an experience that you will remember for life.Great chef , guides and accommodations !Brian CumingFrederictonNew BrunswickCanada
