Owls Head Provincial Park
It is a pristine, natural treasure of Nova Scotia cradling several protected species and currently open to the public, but sadly will soon become an all too common, private golf resort for the filthy rich. Take your family to see this beauty before the Provincial Government sells it off to wealthy Americans to benefit other wealthy Americans. They paved Paradise and put up a parking lot". Owls Head Provincial Park
I would love to visit this globally unique ecosystem. It has remained untouched for hundreds of thousands of years save for when indigenous peoples made a living here before colonialism. Broom Crowberry which is endemic to North America is common to Nova Scotia but is endangered in the rest of the world so it is vital it be protected here at Owls Head, Large healthy colonies of Eel Grass thrive off Owls Head's shore which is becoming more and more uncommon as development and runoff plague the Atlantic coastline. Owls Head provides connectivity to the rest of the 100 Wild Islands legacy of the Nova Scotia Nature Trust and has, up until now, been a provincial protected area by the Nova Scotian government, private conservation groups and the public at large. All of that is about to change as the present government has seen fit to delist Owls Head as a protected area and have accepted a letter of intent to buy from a golf course developer without consultation or knowledge of conservation groups or the general public. It would be criminal to destroy this Special Place with not one, not two, but three golf courses. It is unimaginable and incomprehensible how our government could allow this. And yet here we are. I would love to visit Owls Head someday but it appears that if the Nova Scotia government presses forward with this plan I and my children and you and your children will never be given the privilege of experiencing this amazing and wild place. Instead, three privately owned golf courses will take its place and if one does not have a membership one will not be permitted. Who would want to anyway? Who would want to visit the destruction of such a wild and wonderful place?

Owls Head Provincial Park
This pristine and unique piece of coastal wilderness is home to several endangered or at risk species, including the Piping Plover. It would be unthinkably reckless to mindlessly sell it off to some golf course developer to turn it into yet another playground for the wealthy. The only explanation for such a foolish plan is government corruption and collusion with the developer -- such backroom deals should be investigated immediately and those responsible held to account.

Owls Head Provincial Park
Amazing haven of untouched nature. I hope it stays for future generations or potentially have small trails constructed for more local support of the park.

The idea of blowing up and destroying this special and rare ecosystem is obscene. NS government officials delisting it from its pending park status in secret, after extensive input that had it listed for protection initially, in order to sell it at a bargain price, is also obscene. They must be held accountable and MUST relist and complete its designation as a Provincial Park immediately.

Owls Head Provincial Park
I visited Owl's Head Provincial Park in September 2020 and was blown away by the uniqueness and biodiversity of the coastal bogs and barrens. The pristine bogs provide habitat and food for healthy and abundant wildlife, plus a diversity of delicious berries (cloudberries, huckleberries, cranberries, blueberries, etc). Despite being designated for protected status and being wetlands of significant status in Nova Scotia, the bogs are at risk of being destroyed for golf course development by for-profit billionaires from America. Developing this land means releasing significant carbon to the atmosphere that's been accumulating in bogs since glaciers last scoured (~11-10 thousand years before present) setting Canada's carbon reduction goals back in time.

Beautiful, beautiful and more beautiful. Owl's Head needs to be protected for generations to come and enjoy it's majestic natural beauty, wildlife and precious ecosystems. It doesn't need to become another golf course. We have plenty in Nova Scotia.

Owls Head Provincial Park
An amazing and ecologically-important piece of the province, home to endangered plovers and countless animal and plant species among its barrens, wetlands, and coastline. So glad to have access to this incredible piece of Nova Scotian land.

Owls Head Provincial Park
Owls Head Provincial Park has a history of protection dating back to its inclusion in the Eastern Shore Seaside Parks System in 1975. Since then, successive governments have recognized its conservation values. After extensive consultations, it was awarded a Tier-1" protection rating through the Colin Stewart Forest Forum Final Report. Since then
