St. Jacobs & Aberfoyle Model Railway
I visited this place with my grandson. We both enjoyed it very much. Volunteers basically run the place. They milled around those of us who were there as visitors and answered our questions. Trains ran off and on throughout the time we were there. They had nighttime operations where there were lights on the trains and in the models with dimmed room lights. Highly recommended!

The doors and washrooms are somewhat wheelchair friendly, and the rest of the place is very barrier free. Lots of free parking available as well. The trains and the set up are spectacular. One could imagine so many stories. Certainly kid friendly, but it might be the adults you have to drag out kicking and screaming.

This place is amazing not only with a collection of railway cars. This is history! It's such a colossal job to put it all together, to watch it, to take care of it, to keep it in working order, and to surprise visitors, from small to adults, with this human care.

The St. Jack s & Aberfoyle Model railway is a magical establishment that has this amazing atmosphere. It takes you on a journey back in time.I proposed to my girlfriend here and the gentlemen of the railway went so far as to bring the rings out on a model train! An absolutely fantastic and unique moment for the both of us.

My boys certainly enjoyed it. It's smaller than I expected (yes, I hear the irony!), with only a single room of trains and tracks, but the detail is impressive. If you let yourself take your time, it's good fun-although I'm not sure it's worth the normal sticker price (we went on a day kids got in free).

We took our young son there and we all loved it! I thought it was going to be a few trains driving around but it was incredibly detailed scenery and most of the locomotives were built by hand which is nuts. Suggest going if you’re looking for something interesting in st jacobs

Fantastic place with an interesting history. It's run by some good ol'boys from the 50's that love the hobby. $5 admission and completely worth it for a big kid. Not a place I would take a wife or a kid under 13.

It was great to go and see the model trains in action. The detailing on everything was great to see. Every building has something going on inside them. Lots of little funny things to discover in the set up as well. They have a 40 minute cycle of day and night. 32 minutes of daytime and 8 minutes of night. Workers were very informative about the trains and set up. It took 16 months to set up the complete thing. I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 only because I felt the night wasn't long enough to really give you a chance to walk around and look in the buildings. Really fun activity!

A wonderful layout with especially great light effects. The transitions from day to night really give you the best of both worlds! We had the good fortune of having one of the founding members from 50 years ago on hand to walk us through the layout.When you think you've seen everything, look closer... The level of detail is incredible! ...and all hand-made!
