Mariposa and Bicycle Specialties are simply a cycling legacy and instution of know-how, experience, insight, mechanical skills and full on passion for all things two wheeled. I love making trips to the shop, and it is amazing to see the owners out on their bikes commuting to work, at local group rides, or shredding the Don Valley trails. If you are looking for amazing custom bikes, or need help with special projects like wheel builds, tubular gluing or paint jobs that make old bikes seem like new, then this is the place for you.

I recently just got into cycling and fell in love with it. So much so that I started gathering parts for 2 builds for my gf and me. It took me 4 months or so due to the pandemic. Once I got all the parts I went to Mariposa to assist with the builds. The shop is gorgeous. I was greeted by Michael who is super chill and friendly. We spoke about what I wanted to do and I proceeded to bring the boxes of parts/frames in. Michael didn't even flinch. Stated the builds will be ready in less than a week. In the next couple of days Michael would call me and keep me updated on the progress of the builds (I was missing some parts or some components weren't compatible but Michael tracked down the parts and remedied any hiccups no problem). The bikes were ready in less than a week and we are blown away. Expertly built and they ride amazing. I've had my bike less than a week and I've rode 250km. Smooth and fast as hell.This shop is Amazing! They are friendly and super knowledgeable. They build their own frames and have their own branded kits.I recently found out via Instagram that Michael is a former pro cyclist and Olympian... so yea go to Mariposa for your cycling needs. You'll be well taken care of.

A bit confused.I had a vintage (1960s) French track fork (ultra rare!) that I wanted to have drilled for front brakes. Since it’s a rare piece, I wanted a professional to do the job instead of myself.I dropped it off and waited a few days to have it done. I received a call saying it was completed and the charge would be $50 plus tax for drilling the hole.I thought it was a bit expensive, but since it’s a specialty bicycle shop that makes hand built frames I thought it was the premium I had to pay for quality work.As I picked it up, there were significant scratches along the holes on both sides, drill quality looked rough and metal shavings were left all over the fork. I am confused because it looked like someone just took a drill and went at it.I was under the impression that it would be drilled using a press (professional) to avoid the drill bit walking off causing scratches and atleast have the shavings cleaned off with compressed air.I wish there was a feature on here to upload photos.I will give them credit for drilling the hole right in the center of the fork but for the price and quality of work, it really has left me confused that a bicycle specialty shop who build hand made frames would do such a poor job on a simple fork.

Beautiful bike shop hidden in a single story complex. Went in for some stuff for a bike build and she didn't try to upsell me. Definitely would go back when I need more parts.

What a wonderful bunch of professionals!!!This company builds racing bicycles.Even though it wasn’t the company’s main concern, they very kind and fixed my bicycle (which was stuffed in my car) by putting two sets of tyres and assembling it.It was ready in a few hours!!!This may have been a one-off bicycle-fixing for them but their kindness saved my day.Thank you Mariposa Bicycles!

I had a small but vital repair needed to a wheelchair. The original plan was for me to take the chair to their shop, they'd look at it and decide if they could help, and then book me an appointment. But when I arrived, they actually did the work on the spot and saved me a second trip. These two are my heroes for the day. Thank you.

Amazing service every single time. The people over there are very responsive and help out with any thing I’ve needed. One day I plan on having a custom frame made for me from them! Thank you!

Met Mike Sr. only once and a true gentleman he was. He was personal friends with my uncle and allowed us to stay with him for a few days on our way to London via Toronto. My uncle bought a Mariposa track frame built by Mike and Tom Hinton. When my uncle passed away I purchased the frame from his daughter and I cherish it until this day. Beautiful quality and build.

Popped a tire and this was the nearest store. I was in and out in 10 minutes. Excellent service. Only had my phone and was able to use Apple Pay. I highly recommend this store! They know their bikes!

Outstanding in all aspects - hands on quality over modern mass produced garbage.
